Episode reviews: Uprooted/ Between Dark and Dawn/ A Trivial Pursuit

Okay, quick talk about three episodes. I know I haven't been doing these weekly but I am behind on mlp. Season 8 wasn't... as good as I would have hoped so I stopped keeping track each week. My bad. Season 9, from what I've seen, has picked up the slack. So there's some positive. I'm going to try and watch at least 2 or 3 episodes a day until I get caught up. Don't worry, I'll be ready for the

Episode Review: Father Knows Best/School Raze

    1: Father Knows Best

Well this is it folks. I have finally finished season 8.... I think it's my least favorite season. Not entirely bad, but just not as good as others. I'm surprised really. I never thought I'd see a day I'd like a season less then season 4 but here it is. So let's start off by going over the last two episodes of this season shall we?

New Chapter coming soon (The Greatest Treasure/Fate Pony)

Heyo everyone. It seems I've got my writing mojo back. Well now I've finally started the next chapter of TGT and my Fate pony fic. They should be done by the weekend if not tomorrow. I hope it'll be worth the wait.

    (Spoiler review) What Lies Beneath

Still need to catch up on season 8. Don't worry. I won't be out of the loop once season 9 ends. I plan on binging the show until then. So hopefully I'll get a review done a day. So let's start with this one.

{Shimmerverse} Sapients 7 · 1:23pm Aug 21st, 2017

1: Pana

The Pana are an unusual bird species. As one of the few sapient birds on the planet, they also hold another clear distinction. Pana have the natural ability to shapeshift. Their bodies can become any shape or form they wish as they mold themselves into it like a gelatinous blob. This can also allow them to slip into small areas and out of the grab of potential predators. They more often then not just use their shapeshift abilities to get out of sticky situations and to scare outsiders from their territories.

The Pana aren't known to be actively hostile. For the most part, they are quite wholesome once you get to know them. Not all, but most of them as there are those that do resent other races and wish for them to never touch upon their soil. Most are easy to negotiate with and harm isn't likely to befall anyone by a Pana's wing.

2: Snek

Jokingly named by a pony explorer, the Snek took to the name unironically and called themselves it from then on. Given that Snek are a no nonsense species, they tend to take most things at face value and literally. Of course, before this meeting they simply referred to themselves as 'Those who Live' in their native language as they are the only ones who natively live on the frozen continent to the south. Living there has kept them isolated for most of their history until found by the Celestial Sisters.

They are warm blooded which allows them to still function well enough in the cold temperatures. Scientists have placed them with mammal like reptiles on the tree of life given their morphology and DNA. Their snake like attributes are considered more convergent. They are quick and and lean, able to move about nimbly despite what some would say. As well, they are extremely clever and can think themselves out of pretty much any problem. This helps them create tools to help defend themselves, as their 'bite' isn't that harmful and sort of weak. They tend to stick to smaller animals to eat whole or cut up their meals. The gem on their head is a specialized scale which resembles an eye, used to confuse predators and prey. It also functions to help them focus when they use their magic, though Sneks prefer to use their inventions instead.

3: Bushwoolie

Bushwoolies are strange, hairy mammals. Small and insignificant to most races, they inhabit underground passages in northern terrains. They are widespread since many of them were at once considered nothing more then pets. This has of course been stopped. Bushwoolies aren't that intelligent and don't have much as to say of a society for themselves. They usually just stick together and spend most of their time trying not to be eaten. However, because of their innocent appearance and limited intelligence, they are often used by nations as informants about enemies and local problems as the little fellas and gals don't take much to bribe and are easily tricked/scared into working for spies and such. Most people don't give them a sideways glance so they often get the job done. Helps that they are very good at digging as well.

4: Gizmonks

A species of tinkering monkeys, Gizmonks are just as notorious as goblins when it comes to their technology. However, unlike goblins who create their own machines, Gizmonks are a bit too slow to come up with anything themselves. For this, they tend to go out of their way to steal technology from other races and use it for their own needs. While a bit slow, they are smart enough to replicate technology once they've gotten a hold of it. These are usually more of less cheap knock offs that tend to have problems, but even with just their cheap knock offs, they've been able to make some profit off of this and secure a bit of territory in Afhoofica. They tend to be greedy and selfish and it's unlikely you'll get any help for free.

5: Kats

Anthropomorphic felines, Kats are a well groomed and proud race. They are skilled in both the art of stealth and combat, both during the day and during the night given that they have well enough vision during the night. Their lithe bodies allow them to strike and pull back whenever they so wish. Their claws and fangs can make most species wary to face them without armor. They are extremely agile and quick witted.

Kats, being the proud race that they are, tend to have superiority complexes. Many of them will think of other races as beneath them and have a 'nobility' air to their frames as theirs is a very rich and prosperous nation. Because of their wealth, they are able to live the life the luxury and fund their wars with ease. Kats have a slight aggressive tendency to them and are known to take pleasure in killing, so small scale wars near their borders are quite common.

So, is Shimmerverse an AU all of your stories are set in?

Cool, nice to see more G1 races in the Shimmerverse. Also will the Crab Nasties appear in this verse? And where did the inspiration for Snek come from?

PS. In the My Little Pony The Movie Prequel Comics, the Cat People are called Abyssinian. Just thought you should know.

Stag has their name. They're a race of beings in the anime 'A Centaur's Life' and I fell in love with the gal I used the picture of.

4643381
A good sum of them, but not all. You'll find all the ones I've written for the Shimmerverse in the Shimmerverse group

4643519 Granted, in the anime and Manga they're eusocial creatures descended from dinosaurs in a universe where earth life evolved on a hexapod body plan, but still cool to see i'm not the only one familiar with them!

Thanks for the answer.

So are the Kats different than the anthromorphic cats introduced in the MLP movie or are they the same thing?
