An alternate prologue may be on the way. · 10:18pm Aug 6th, 2017
So I felt inspired and decided to rewrite the Sunny Days prologue out of the blue. To be honest, I've been feeling like it didn't do the story justice for a while. Granted, my writing probably improved tremendously since I first started, but still, I had an idea and I decided to try it out.
Now, it leaves me with a few options on what to do with it. I could leave the story as is and forget about it, which I might do should proofreaders dislike it. (PM me if you'd like an early look.) I could also post it as an alternate prologue, with an author's note explaining what it is. I could also just replace the old prologue with the new one, but I'm not sure I like the idea. At the very least, I'd like to give people the option of saving a copy of the original prologue if they like it.
I didn't change the story at all, but I did clarify a few details I felt were too vague. I also fixed what many consider to be the biggest issue with it. Blueblood is now a much more nuanced character, and the new prologue shows a different side to him, even though he's still kind of a dick.
Another worry I have is that this new prologue might clash with the early chapters, since they're much closer in tone with the original. Let's not kid ourselves here, the beginning of Sunny Days is pretty bad compared to the later chapters. It was my first attempt at serious writing, and it shows.
Anyway, just a heads up of what I've been up to. If anyone wants to read it and give me feedback, don't hesitate to ask. It's not as if I have spoilers to worry about here. Mostly, it's something I wrote for fun, and I'm making this blog post to get an idea if there would be any interest in it.
Long story short, the pov character is Blueblood's butler, and we see the events through the eyes of a servant who's not as emotionally invested, but more of a witness to various plots. I felt like the original gave the wrong impression of the story by taking a very emotional direction while the story is more political in nature.
