Blog time!
Well, I’m home. Had a great trip, but now I’m ready to get back to things here in the north.
Did a whole bunch of stuff Monday, none of it writing, but all of it needed to be done. Yesterday and today I’ve been focused on fixing my computer.
A while ago, for my birthday, I purchased an RX 480 GPU. Immediately there were issues. Unless using out of date drivers that caused Mass Effect Andromeda to become unstable, I was unable to use two monitors at once. Eventually I was sick of the old drivers and complained to support.
We were unable to resolve the issue and a bit ago I had to RMA the card. I continued to play at minimum graphics settings on my old 270 until the new card arrived, and low and behold, same issue. Worse, I began to experience random crashes where the screen would turn a solid color and the system would freeze completely.
So, I got new RAM, and that seems to have cleared up the crashing. For the monitor, I went and got a new monitor that runs on DisplayPort, and that seems to work fine, even though I really should not have had to do that given the old card ran the old monitors just fine.
I spent WAY WAY more than I ever wanted to on a GPU upgrade. :P
Next card needs to be from nVIDIA, damnit.
Anyway, now that the computer is running okay I can talk to Telus about removing the data cap on the line and maybe doing streaming when I play games. In the meantime, if you play Mass Effect Andromeda on PC, send me a PM if you want to team up on Multiplayer. I have no one I know who plays it’s multiplayer.
Outside of gaming, I need to organize myself better to do more writing and cooking. All part of the process, I guess. But hey, the computer finally works! Now, if only it could read my thoughts enough for me to write using nothing but my brain…
As for cancer news, I’ve no information just yet, but I have an important appointment regarding that in mid-August, and no doubt a couple normal family doctor visits between then and now. I’ll report the news when I get it.
Until next blog!

Good luck on the medical front!
My new computer's screen has DisplayPort. Gaming at true 144Hz is luxuriously extravagant.
Too bad the cable broke after a month, I'm back on an HDMI, and it's peasantly 60Hz.
