    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

Because I'm Just Bored · 6:16pm Jul 1st, 2017

"You're always bored, Sketch."

Excuse you, I've had some fun this summer! In fact, the reason I got sunburned three weeks in a row (it's not a running gag thankfully) was because I went out to have some fun (and didn't bring sunscreen, sadly). And there's also that Disney Movie Marathon me and Marshmallow Wings are doing. As a matter of fact, here are some random thoughts on the first twenty that we watched through June:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves--Snow White is a mother and the dwarves are her children.

Pinocchio--Imagine him talking childhood memories with a friend and he just mentions he was "born" a puppet. Awkward.

Fantasia--Seductive fish! The lava looks like cheese or tomato sauce! No one expects the Spanish Inquisition to be crocodiles! Demons are terrible dancers! And a lot more wonderfully crazy musical adventures, hurr hurr.

Dumbo--Don't pick on babies, folks, or they'll start flying and shooting peanuts at you.

Bambi--Either Thumper or Flower is the first Disney character to reproduce after on-screen twitterpation.

Saludos Amigos--Jose Carioca is best reality-warping parrot. From now on, everything weird that happens is his fault.

The Three Caballeros--Panchito is best trigger-happy rooster. Also, this movie almost killed me with its insanity.

Make Mine Music--Marshy's instrument is an oboe, and thus, according to Peter and the Wolf, she is a duck.
Also... Willie, no! :raritycry:

Fun and Fancy Free
Bongo--If a slap is a declaration of love, then how do bears declare hate? ... ... ... ... ... Oh, right, they maul you.
Mickey and the Beanstalk--Turns out, the live action world is the afterlife for cartoon characters.

Melody Time--Well, this isn't boring at al--OH MY GOSH, JOSE CAME BACK FOR A SEGMENT!

Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
Wind in the Willows--I'm still amazed at how smart that guard was. Also... a MOTOR CAR?!
Legend of Sleepy Hollow--Everyone's a jerk, from Ichabod to Gaston Prototype to Cinderella Doppelganger... the best character is the Headless Horseman, hands down.

Cinderella--I think the Fairy Godmother indirectly granted all the good characters' wishes. Including Bruno's of chasing Lucifer.

Alice in Wonderland--I hate just about everyone in this movie. Especially those stupid flowers and that spoiled brat of a queen.

Peter Pan--Why isn't Wendy allowed to have fun? And why do I want to strangle Peter and the Lost Boys every time they come on screen? At least I had fun calling Wendy's brother (the one with the hat and umbrella) Mary Poppins.

Lady and the Tramp--Can't have a romantic spaghetti dinner without some guy popping in with an accordion.
I like to think that happened on Beans and Panini's first date:
Pizza Pockets (I): "Oh, thiiiiiis is the niiiiiiight--"
Beans: "Get outta here!"

Sleeping Beauty--As far as I'm concerned, the three fairies are the protagonists instead of Aurora and Philip.

101 Dalmations--Where can I get a matchmaking dog? Bailey's not doing a good job in sniffing out a good man for me.

The Sword in the Stone--This didn't feel like a movie. It felt random and episodic, and dumb luck, not education (given that 'knowledge is power' is the theme of the film), led Arthur to the sword. And it was dull... why was this my favorite when I was little again? Oh, right, Merlin.

The Jungle Book--BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN BAGHEERA'S NOT AROUND.

The AristoCats--Did any neighbors hear 'Everybody Wants to Be a Cat'? It'd be interesting to hear cats meowing in tune with jazz music.

Anyway, twenty down, thirty-six to go.

We also recently sent a package to Artsy Notes for her birthday tomorrow. My present to her is this out-of-the-blue firefly character that Mom nagged me into drawing and printing:

No, she doesn't have a name, and I'm leaving that up to Art.

She's doing well in Arkansas and has met some interesting people (like a guy who refuses to wear a shirt and a lonely old lady who talks a lot). Surprisingly, she met a family that turned out to share a great-grandfather with us. Wow, small world.

So, yeah, I'm happy that she's okay.

Lastly, minor note of business, but I've been meaning to update the Sandwich family tree:

Because, well, why not, we've had some reveals since the last time I drew a family tree.

Of course, I got other pictures I want to get to as well... and some stories... and then there's real life... ugh, so many things I want to do and so little time to do it. I wish I could clone myself to take care of all the creative pursuits I want to do.

Anyway, that is all.
