    My Good Friend Needs Help

Hey, gang, I'll keep it brief.

My good friend Majin Syeekoh needs your help. He set up a GoFundMe, and if you could all help him out a bit, I'd be forever grateful.

    NSFW IGO Poll

I Get Off is in the works, and in addition to the new chapter update, I would also like to write some straight up lewd shorts. I'm curious as to where would be more appropriate to post those shorts, right here on chillbook1 or on my NSFW alt. So I threw up a poll

If there's no particular consensus, they'll probably end up on LewdChapter.

    It's Back, And It's Finished

There was supposed to be more to this, but the guy who set that up... I'm not him anymore. So I wanted to give this story some proper closure even if it meant skipping a bit to the end. Sorry if it's a little sloppy, but I needed to do this.

Man, it feels good to see this thing marked as complete

Just Finished Gravity Falls... · 3:46am May 18th, 2017

I know, I'm super late, and I know, I should've watched it literal ages ago. But I finally got around to finishing it off, and I don't think there's a combination of twenty-six letters that come together to make a word that can accurately describe how truly amazing it was. It was funny, it had heart, it was insanely smart. It was almost like there was a secondary show going on beneath the surface of the series. You had your goofy adventures, but a deep, intricate narrative under that. Character arcs that never would've gone anywhere on any other show (Dipper's crush, Pacifica Northwest, and Old Man McGuckit, the three that come to mind) all wrap up nicely. The entire show was beautifully self-aware, often tongue-in-cheek at times. There was a layer of maturity that you wouldn't expect from a show on Disney in this day and age. The characters, all of them were amazing (though I'd be remiss if I didn't specifically mention Bill, who is the evillest sumbitch I've seen in a long time. And that ending... I haven't shed a tear watching a cartoon since ever, but that ending got me good. It was perfect. I've never loved a show so much that I really wished that there's no Season 3. They very easily could've made Dipper and Mabel decide to stay in Gravity Falls and continue to milk the story til it was past its prime, but they showed restraint. The ending was perfect, and I'm glad Alex Hirsch understands that.

If you somehow haven't seen any Gravity Falls, stop whatever it is you're doing and watch it right now.

its a good solid show, and a rare gem for its time and run.

Don't feel bad, I need to get around to it.:derpyderp2: I have seen the shorts though. :derpytongue2:

Good for you. Now the question becomes: is Keijo next on your watchlist?

4537003 I actually started Keijo a while back, made it four-ish episodes in before I was distracted by Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. I have a tendency to fall off the wagon hard with anime, which is the reason I hardly finish any. I made it to the last four episodes of Samurai Champloo, then got distracted by something and never got around to finishing it(this was at least a year ago, mind you).

I promise, I will resume watching at the next opportunity.

4537015

Whatever floats your boat. Those other two shows are also exceptional.

4537015 I'm currently watching Maid Dragon myself and enjoying it immensely, I should have started when it was airing.

YES!!! Chillbook is a Gravity Faller! I'm so glad you've joined the herd, it was truly amazing for its run, even in an era where animated features are really strengthening in quality.:pinkiehappy: But finally, the question that determines who you are-
WENDIP OR DIPIFICA? :trixieshiftright:

4537260 *inhales deeply* Okay, this is tough, but I'm gonna say... Dipifica, and here's why.

I see a lot of myself in Dipper. We're both dorky, inquisitive guys who want to know more about the mysteries of the world we live in. Skeptics. Questioners. Explorers. And don't get me wrong, Wendy Corduroy is probably my favorite female character on Disney in a long time. But, sadly... She's just not right for Dipper. He's too young. Too immature. It wouldn't work, not now. If Dipper came back when he hit his twenties, then maybe. But, for now, it can't be helped. Those two probably have the most logical, justified reason for not getting together that I've ever seen, and I really respect Gravity Falls by not having Dipper somehow get the girl at the end, nor did Wendy patronize him with a kiss on the cheek at the end or anything. They understand one another, have massive respect for each other. I wouldn't fuck with their relationship in any way.

As for Pacifica... She's a really good example of how to properly redeem the spoiled-rotten princess archetype. She was, is, and always will be at least a touch insufferable, because people don't change overnight. These things take time, and Dipper is the one to solve the puzzle of Pacifica. There's so much bad blood that their hatred kinda cancels out near the end and they sorta just start getting along. Pacifica never apologized to Dipper for being a c*nt and playing him in the ghost episode, nor has Dipper apologized to her for revealing the Northwest family's lie. They simply coexist. And, frankly, I think it's damn adorable. I didn't like Pacifica at all at first, but I warmed up to her.

So, them's my thoughts.

Well, if you like the show that much, you should know that Alex had published a real live version of the iconic Journal #3. Towards the middle of June, there will be a special edition version which has the invisible ink parts.

Btw, did you expect that thing that happened with the sheriff and the deputy? Not complaining since something like that can bolster ships of same genders, but I'm just surprised that Disney let that one in under the radar.

4550711 I did know about the journal and I did not anticipate the revelation of Sheriff Blubs. I'm all for it, and it lends a bit of context to all of their prior appearances.

Folks are getting less uptight about things like that nowadays. I did a blog on it quite a while ago, stating that Disney was (as far as I could tell) the first of the "Big Three" channels of children's programing to implement any sort of objectively, directly-shown same-sex couples. There was an episode of Good Luck, Charlie (it's okay if you don't remember it, it wasn't very good) that featured one of Charlie's classmates and her lesbian mums. Then Nickelodeon followed with Korra, and finally Cartoon Network with Ruby and Sapphire (followed by Pearl and Rose and, one could argue, Jasper and Lapis/Peridot and Lapis). I thought that MLP would be the next logical escalation of the trend, but that seems not to be the case.

4550875
I thought 'LoK' came first?

Anyway, do you intend to order the book?

4551052 Nah, I'm fairly sure the Charlie episode came out first.

I don't intend to order the book, because I feel like there's no point now. I think its a real missed opportunity. They should've released the journal to coincide with the first season, and then leave clues and whatnot to a website to find snippets of the other journals. You could leave codes in the journal in the show that help you to unlock the site in real life. Dedicated and eagle-eyed fans could have discovered at least some of Gravity Falls' mystery before the show even hinted at it. It would be the perfect ARG!

The second reason I don't want to buy it is that I don't want to encourage Disney to continue the series. Massive sales of this book would indicate a persisting interest in the show, which will prompt them to greenlight a third season. And, while Alex has said that he's finished, he's also acknowledged that he doesn't actually have all that much control over what happens next. Disney can very easily take someone else and say "make season 3" and a third season would get made. I don't want that for Gravity Falls.

Sometimes, the best way to show your love for something is to restrain yourself from showing your love.

4551055
Oops. I meant in regards to 'LoK' coming before 'GF', should've looked over that bit with 'GLC'.

Anyway, I doubt that high book sales would result in a third season. At most, I'd wager the other two journals being published. Still, it's your call not to get a copy. You don't know what you're missing.

And as for MLP not jumping on the 'Same-sex' bandwagon, give it time. Something might come eventually.
