This is going to be for the people who follow, and might not follow, my Dark Souls 1 Soul Level 1 run through, where I have self-imposed rules... you know to make it better? :\
Anyway, as I have tried, and tried... and tried some more. I seem to be making hardly any progress in the fight against Ornstein and Smough, 25% to be my best so far.
My Weapons: Hand Axe +10
Yup. I plan on upgrading a Caestus to Divine for later, but that comes later.
Now the Poll shall be. Should I head to New Anor Londo, get the Very Large Ember so I can get a Hand Axe +15?
Or; should I keep trying, and most likely failing for a few days, the fight?

Why Tag Dark Ponies: Because it can count as research, besides where else should I get ideas for Dark Souls fights than from Dark Souls itself?
Yes I vote for a bigger Axe! Yes bigger axe means you can axe more nicely.

If no go get it. Ornstein and Smough are weak towards Occult weapons.

It doesn't do more damage than the Hand Axe +10 with a Fire Resin. And it works much slower, which, naturally, leaves me wide open.
I say if you don't think you can beat them with what you have go ahead and go get the better ax.

Well, in retrospect I could beat them with a regular unupgraded Hand Axe, but the more damage means less time in the fight and a more likely chance at winning.

It seems that the general consensus is to get more damage. I'll have to do that then. But I think I'll give a few more attempts before I try to get the more damage.
Another thing I could do is use Resin, basically things that add elemental damage to my weapon, but that is risky; because it takes a second or so to apply to the weapon and it only lasts for a minute. If I play really risky I could get the kill in that time, but I would probably be dead at the same time.
