Changing it Up... Again · 6:22pm Mar 12th, 2017

So after trying it out for a month or two, I've concluded that my little plan of working on a different story every day just isn't what I need. It takes too long for any individual story to get a chapter finished, so it makes me feel unproductive. Meh, it was an experiment, and those sometimes fail.

So I've decided to go back to my old methods, with a slight change. My goal now is to work on stories on a weekly basis, with the specific goal to be to complete a chapter per week or, in the case of the one shots, write around 5,000 words. This might seem like a lot to some people, but frankly? If I can't write 5,000 words in three or four days, either I've got some real life issues to deal with or something's wrong with my motivation that needs correcting. This level of attention should be easy for me.

As with most things I work on, progress for each story will be based on its priority, which means some will go for long periods of time before updates. That's my own fault for trying to do so many at once, of course. This also does not mean I'll be publishing an update every week, since some stories are going to be published on completion rather than as they come. So on the face of things, it may not look so different, but from my angle it should make a huge change in productivity.

First priority is Order of Shadows, so expect updates for it today and next weekend.

Now all I have to do is not get swept up in Skyrim. Again.

In unrelated news, I entered the Write Off last week, but this one is a contest for original (i.e. non-pone) stories. I need to find some place to put it for public consumption. I've got accounts with fictionpress and DeviantArt, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of some other places that might be worth my while. Any takers?

*Except maybe bird pone. Maybe.

Cat Pone > Bird Pone.

Forever.

Oh, I'm not getting dragged into this one.

Because nothing's cuter than a cat pone. Nope. Don't try. Shut your yappin'. Nothing.*

Nope! Not getting involved! It's a trap!

To answer your question ... uh, actually, I don't know. Shop it around to genre anthologies? Magazines? If you don't think for whatever reason that it's saleable, put it on your website maybe? Except something like FictionPress probably is that (unless you have a website elsewhere already).

Keep us posted. I'll be curious to see how it works out.
