First post in 2024 -- Technical Difficulties

Hey, guys! I know its been a while since I made a blogpost, but I've been preoccupied with writing out commissions to keep up with bills. I also recently moved to a new place (dont worry, this one was planned better than the cross-country move back in 2022), and I've been settling nicely. I've been fortunate enough to work on a new series of my own accord titled 'To Nerd A Bird,' but at the

It's my Birthday! (Also, Patreon Updates)

Hey, y'all! As of today, I'm now a whopping thirty-three years old! I know that isn't really a big deal, but it's a good enough excuse to swing by here and explain where I've been.

    Commissions Still Open

Heya guys! I finally finished a good amount of my backlog, so I'm open for commissions at the moment. My rates will be around $20 per thousand words, although it may vary depending on content or number of characters involved. I don't know how many projects I'll be open to accept, but I'll likely delete this blogpost when I have enough to handle. Until then, please feel free to contact me though

The music of Shut Up And Dance · 7:51pm Jan 21st, 2017

Before I say anything else, I just want to give my deepest thanks to my fans who have been following and commenting on my newest story. I don't think I've ever written a story at this fast of a rate since the first Brushed Away, and I actually have experience and a proofreader this time! This story has really rejuvenated my writing mojo, and it means so much to know that my work is being appreciated.'

Now, with that being said, I wanted to bring up one of the big reasons I was inspired to write this story in the first place. I know that Draco Azmyth bright it up on our Survivor podcast (which you can find here if you're curious), but if you're unaware, one of the big inspirations for Shut Up And Dance was actually a big guilty pleasure of mine:

Dancing With the Stars

Yeah, yeah, I know. It's a weird show to be invested in; but then again, so is My Little Pony. Anyway, I got super into DWTS a couple years ago, mostly because I loved the level of variety that came with the music and dance styles. While I also liked seeing which celebrities ended up being good dancers, I loved the levels of depth and creativity that came with each season. I mean, where else are you gonna see Gary Busey perform a tango to the Addams Family theme? Or Willow Shields from Hunger Games do a flawless contemporary dance number based on the movies? Judge me all you want, but the show really is entertaining and fun! Here's their youtube channel if you want to check out some of their best stuff in HD:

Okay, I'll stop talking about it here, since it isn't the biggest reason for this blog entry. Honestly, I just wanted to bring up what's to come for this story since I've put a lot of thought into it. I actually had this idea for a couple years, so there's a lot of details I'm glad to finally write down instead of just thinking it over. And of all the things that came to mind, one of the biggest by far is the soundtrack. Once the competition stuff actually begins by chapter six, I'm going to incorporate a lot of different songs and dance routines; not just from Blitz and Elusive, but from the other competitors as well (including the ones introduced in the latest chapter I released). There will be others to come soon as well, but I just wanted to give you guys a taste of what I plan to include in this story as a whole.

The following songs are either planned or will be considered as music choices for Blitz and Elusive's competition chapters:
Pigeon John - The Bomb
The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
Outkast - Hey Ya
Daft Punk - Get Lucky
The Ramones - Baby I Love You
Buckcherry - Next 2 U
Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
Misfits - Hybrid Moments
Dead Kennedy's - Holiday in Cambodia
Dio - Rainbow in the Dark (although the Corey Taylor cover could definitely work too)
Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People
Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
Ram Jam - Black Betty

[Just so you guys know, this isn't the FULL setlist of songs for Blitz and Elusive. There will be others which are confirmed choices for this story, but I don't want to spoil what they are since they're awesome (plus, one of them will be a big spoiler for an emotional moment later in this story). The ones above are just ideas I may or may not do.]

The following songs are planned or being considered as songs used by Blitz and Elusive's competitors:
La La Land Soundtrack - Another Day of Sun
Phil Collins - Can't Hurry Love
Frank Sinatra - Witchcraft
The Lounge Kittens - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing (Argentine Tango cover)
Basement Jaxx - Do Your Thing
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - If You Wanna Go To Heaven
Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
Ke$ha - Die Young
This fucking thing
LMFAO - Sexy And I Know It
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons - Can't Keep My Eyes Off Of You
Psy - Gangnam Style
King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight
Christina Perry - A Thousand Years
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

Just to reiterate, these are mostly just ideas. I just wanted to give you guys a taste of what's to come, and what kind of music I'm planning to incorporate into this story. There's a good chance that a lot of the song I listed won't be featured in the final story, but there's also a good chance there will be other songs which will be used instead. Right now I'm still in the planning process soundtrack-wise. All I'll say is that you guys should be prepared. This is gonna be a big-ass story, and I can't wait for you all to see what's to come on this BlitzLusive ride!

Toodles!

(also, you guys can make suggestions for songs for the competitors if you want)

You know, if you wanted a song for Blitz and Elusive to dance to for a romantic scene, I'd try this version of Don't Stop Me Now...

Or, if you want my suggestion for song choices for dance offs...

Here's a suggested tango that could come in handy.

Funny that you mention that! Jack Osbourne (Ozzy Osbourne's son) actually performed an Argentine Tango to that song when he was on Dancing with the Stars. I can't find the video on Youtube (I guess it was taken off for copyright or something), but it was really impressive! Kelly Osbourne was on the show too (different season), and both of them did fantastic.

Well, that one seemed a bit obvious. Of course it's gonna show up at some point in this story.
