Something just occurred to me. · 11:39pm Jan 16th, 2017
Looking back at When a Pony Calls, I can't deny that the story had a really silly premise and it showed. That said, there was one thing that caught my eye when I was rereading the penultimate chapter of the story.
Celestia turns upon her sister with a rather worrisome smile—is this where the Trollestia meme really comes from? “Why sister, I do believe she was just about to ask to study your most favorite of magical disciplines.”
Luna turns her eyes to me with a curious look before returning her attention to her sister. “She wishes to learn Tulpa?”
“No, sister,” says Celestia in a flat voice. “Alchemy, remember?”
A blush creeps across the darker sister’s face as realization strikes her. “Oh!” she says. “Yes, well, that makes much more sense.”
Remember that season 5 episode, 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep'? The Tantabus was a mental construct that Princess Luna created to punish herself for the actions of Nightmare Moon. The Tantabus vied to escape her own mind and wreak havoc in the waking world, just like how a poorly managed Tulpa can cause serious mental issues. See where I'm getting yet?
This is basically me belatedly saying, "I fucking called it!"
I thought you were making a joke back then about Luna's personality, regarding the fad in which unwashed basement dwellers dream up imaginary friends and take it totally seriously.
4385307 I mean, I kinda was, but it was more to point out how lonely a pony she sometimes came off as. Still. Kinda hard not to see it as having called it in retrospect.
You are clearly a God among Prophets, Seven. I bow before you.
I bet if you and David Silver joined forces, all of fate would be laid bare. (I say he called the season six finale.)
Also... Hello! Howdy!
Wonder if it was you...
Someone or something on this site introduced me to the concept of Tulpas and it grew on me (Sorta, the whole 'can take control/have sex with it' skived me out) and for the life of me i can't remember.
Became my new headcanon for Luna., and since then I think I've read a few fics with it.
one of the authors on SV that i follow is a tulpa!
4385455 You live!
