State of Reviewer --- and Review #31 - A Chat Between a King and a Prince, The Birth of Equestria · 7:03pm Jan 2nd, 2017

So, as you may have noticed, I have a new profile picture. This is partly because it was really cool, and partly because new year, new picture. Anyway, this is where I first found it, and this here will bring you to the URL.

And the first review of 2017, woohoo. Anyway, here they are:

A Chat Between a King and a Prince by PoisonClaw
The Birth of Equestria by Calming Moon

A Chat Between a King and a Prince by Poison Claw
(Slice of Life)
Weeks after Chrysalis's failed attempt to take over Equestria and the subsequent transformation of the changeling race, Thorax is caught off guard by an unexpected visitor to the hive. As the two talk, they learn more about one another, and possibly resolve some bad blood between them.

Review
Shining Armor comes to talk with King Thorax. First they talk about the trappings of royalty, and how to be a good leader. Shining Armor then admits that he never really trusted Thorax, and thought that he had betrayed them during the events of "To Where and Back Again."

The pacing in this one is fairly good, though it does seem a tiny bit longer than it should be. It has very few errors within the text. But it only seems somewhat planned out, as there is a LOT of filler. The tag is good though.

Score: 7/10 Recommendation: Intermediate.

Personal Thoughts: This story is really just about Shining Armor apologizing for mistrusting Throrax, but it takes 2,000 words to get to that point.

The Birth of Equestria by Calming Moon
(Alternate Universe, Drama, Slice of Life)
Celestia explains the beginning of Equestria, from herself and Luna becoming alicorns, to having to banish Luna to the moon.

Review
Celestia recounts she and Luna got to be princesses: they were unicorn sisters, they ran away, they found the tree of harmony, they were made alicorns, they discovered they have control over the Sun and Moon, Celestia banishes NMM.

This has fairly good pacing, though it can seem a little short. It has a couple errors in it, (I counted two). And it seems only mostly planned out, it could maybe use more on Discord/ Tirek. The tags work out alright I guess, though the only AU part that I noticed was the founding of Ponyville.

Score: 8/10 Recommendation: Worth Reading.

Personal Thoughts: This one is ok, but the incorrect founding of Ponyville gets to me. (Though it shouldn't due to the AU tag).
