Updates Due To Season Finale · 8:24pm Dec 29th, 2016
You know, many years ago, writers used to kindof go away, distance themselves from everything, to focus only on their writing. I had that chance over Christmas break. I was on limited internet due to where my wife's family lives, so I downloaded a few stories to my phone--including Changeling Queen Book 2--and began typing whenever I had the chance.
It worked. I connected scenes I had been unable to do before. If you catch a couple straight quotes in later chapters, that's from parts I wrote way, way back when (like, back from around season three when I actually started this story). And I finally connected them.
But, like any update to this story, I have to defer to canon. As of right now, I've put 'written after season three' in the description and kept the alt universe tag off.

Two-way communication through bug-like contacts
I like this. I'm totally using this. I'm not sure where, but I am. Accepted.
Castle!Hive in the middle of nowhere
I had them in a cave system in a mountain; but I suppose I could use this somewhere. Tacitly accepted.
Trixie in the hive
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Trixie reacts to changelings pretty much like I thought she would. Accepted.
Magical magic-draining throne
That's… not going to work in this story.
Well, I guess it could; but I don't really want it to. At all. 
See above. Rejected.
Guards with mandible armor
I like this design. I'll probably mention it later. Accepted.
Constantly changing hive
I like this concept, but it can't really work with my canon. It could explain why Twilight gets a bit lost; but my idea of the hive involved a self-dug cave and a bit more slime. I can't accept this. Rejected.
Changelings constantly hungry
Already story-canon.
Not hungry since making friends
Story canon is changelings feed by absorption of ambient energy from others; thus, a changeling could theoretically get nourishment by making friends. This is what Twilight was trying to do in book one. Technically already canon to story.
That tongue thing
I don't think I'm going to mention it; but if you think it while reading, more power to you.
Chrysalis's head twisting
I like this. I don't think I've ever mentioned changeling physiology. Accepted.
Slime hoofcuffs
Yep. Accepted.
Gleam giving away the changeling
I guess something like this was canon way back in season two; but unless you're another changeling, you wouldn't know what to look for. So technically accepted.
Love as a flowing energy
I didn't have this as headcanon. Love is in the air; changelings just gather it. But if Tirek can suck all the magic out, I don't see why this can't work (even if this story is set after season 3 and Tirek isn't going to show up).
Sharing love
In this story, changelings can share love as a syrupy liquid, and it gains a little exterior crust when exposed to air. They don't have a lot of food, but it's all they have; and they'll often barter or bet their food supply. So yeah, changelings share love in story canon. And when they do, they don't do that flutterpony transformation. Which brings me to…
Flutterpony transformation
Yeah, no. This can never be canon. I get that they were going for a more fae-like appearance; but I like the bugs. I need the bugs. This is the one thing that made me feel like I might need to put that alt universe tag on this series after all.
But as long as I'm talking about the finale… pacing-wise, it wasn't too bad (aside from the changelings sharing their love so dang fast there at the end). And I got my 'Chrysalis never reforms' thing that I wanted (so I didn't feel too bad killing her off there in book 1) so there's that.
So yeah. Expect updates on Twilight Sparkle Becomes a Changeling Queen, Book 2 to resume shortly.

This is my favorite story and the only one I track so I'm so hyped!!
Really I felt a bit chipped off that Chrysalis isn't getting redeemed. I don't care how mad people get but this is a story about FRIENDSHIP and thus I have almost little to zero problems with redemption being common place in that universe.
