IN WHICH I POST AFTER MIDNIGHT
I don't like making two blogposts in one day, meaning it's going to be awhile before I say anything again, but that may be for the best, as my writing pace (sluggish to begin with) has dropped due to my being distracted by many things – phone calls, annoying neighbour dogs, a needy cat, food, anime.
Anyway, progress update on Reconciliations: Finished Pinkie Pie's chapter. Next is Fluttershy, then a short epilogue that I already have in my head, then revisions, then I'll post the whole thing at once.
I'm considering picking the order of the four main chapters by lot, since it really doesn't matter.
I threw the story I had into a Word document to check the word count… and much to my dismay it's only just over 5000 words. I miss the days when I could write a 10,000 word story like Election like it was nothing. Has my writing ability deteriorated that much in two years? I like to believe my quality speaks for itself and that I'm able to say more with less, but I know that's not true. I envy the many writers on this site, several of whom I admire, who are able to give us wonderful pieces of fiction at a good clip. They could easily write a story like this in a day or two whereas it takes me over a week.
…I think I just came up with a new Mayor's Break Time chapter – Spike gives Twilight a wrapped gift; in it is an I.O.U. or just a piece of paper with "Go Eat A Dick" on it and he hightails it to the Mayor's for Hearth's-Warming booze before Twilight can catch him. Maybe Celestia will be there getting drunk too, I don't f-ing know; it literally just popped into my head. Didn't think I'd have any sort of idea for MBT anytime soon.
