    Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

So I've been busy away from ponies... Again...

With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

That story is now complete, and posted in its entirety over on AO3.

Saw the Legends of the Hidden Temple movie tonight. · 7:25am Nov 27th, 2016

Went over to a friends house with three other friends in their 20's to watch the Legends of the Hidden Temple movie on Nickelodeon last night.

Now don't get me wrong; it's about as thrilling as any made-for-TV kid's movie is (or isn't, for the most part).

But the thing they absolutely, unquestioningly nailed, was the nostalgic references and humor. They were 100% spot on.

Two of us grew up with the show, and we were screaming with laughter when they encountered the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Yes, screaming. It was that perfect. They couldn't have done that scene any better.

Hard to say if it'll make it's way to commercial release. I hope so, but at least we got to see it. Fingers crossed for positive reviews and what the hell, a revival of the game show!

I was 100% expecting you to come back with a bad review of it. I'm glad it went well.

Now if only I got Nick to watch it... :applejackunsure:

4319053 Well, simply put, three kids get lost in an ancient Mayan temple, and one of them has insane knowledge of it's history.

When they get to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, they first try to put it together like it's nothing, then find out it's all wrong. They then start trying to rotate the pieces and debate how to do it.

Then, for the only time in the film, it cuts to a slate that says "FOUR HOURS LATER" and it's still all wrong. We absolutely lost it.

The one and only thing I wanted from this film was for them to have trouble with the Silver Monkey, and that was far more than I ever hoped for. They even repeated the gag during the credits when Kirk Fogg knocks it over, and he and the Mayan chief attempt to put it back to together, unsuccessfully, while Olmec watches and sighs.

The references to the game show we all knew and loved are nearly constant, and at times blatantly in our face. It was glorious.

:rainbowlaugh:

They always had trouble with that monkey. I always thought to myself 'I could get that monkey done faster!'

4319141 Yeah, I watched that gameshow a lot as a kid and I always noticed how that room seemed to be the one that gave the winning team the most challenges. I have to wonder why the Green Monkey got to be the animal sidekick, were the Green Monkies the most succesful of the teams during the course of the game show?

I have no idea! There's not very much I remember of the show but I could see that being the case.

Well, I'm very glad to hear this movie doesn't completely fail. I don't have much in the way of expectations for kids' movies, so this is a nice change.

4319845 - Someone ran the numbers for LotHT awhile ago -- not sure where I found the data, maybe TVTropes or some fansite -- and IIRC it said Silver Snake teams had the highest likelihood of reaching the final round; Orange Iguana teams had the worst; Purple Parrots were 2nd least likely to get to the temple but most likely to win it all if they did.

And the most bullshit place to put the treasure was the Heart Room -- no one ever won the game when it was there.
