Call to Arms for Video Game Fans · 3:46pm Oct 21st, 2016
Negotiators for the video game industry seem to feel that the performances of voice actors in video games don't mean anything. That consumers don't notice or care.
This is ridiculous and patently untrue. It's insulting to both the voice actors whose livelihood it threatens, and to the fans who DO, in fact, notice AND care.
Take to e-mail. Take to Twitter (#performancematters). Write letters. Make phone calls. Do whatever you can to let the video game industry know:

...Have those negotiators never paid attention to any review that either praises or pans the voice acting in any given game?

IIRC, the last time we were on strike was in 2000, over the Commercials contract. Then, too, one of the big issues was back-end compensation (residuals). We won that fight, and most of the producers eventually got the message. For the longest time, New Media producers had refused to pay scale or residuals. They finally caved in 2014. Now it's the gaming industry's turn.
Residual payments are the main source of income for actors in between jobs, and are important income support for working actors as well. They mean the difference between security and precariousness in life. Worldwide, the momentum is toward precarious work, and has been for a long time. Any pressure back on that is extremely welcome, and deserves all the support you can give.
