Minor PSA regarding Warrior Meet and Fight Fic. (Includes Ninja Capies) · 12:38pm Sep 29th, 2016
Hey, all, just giving you a quick headsup to say: probably not going to get Warrior Meet's first draft done before the end of the month, but it's only two or three fights that need fleshing out, so another week and it should be ready for first round of editing. There is a lot going on in this fic, and it features my flagship OC, Doldrum Whimper, so I want it to be at least good before publishing, if not perfect. I've finally seen the anime One Punch Man, was not disappointed, there may be one or two references to it.
Regarding the announced fight fic: the initial idea has been scrapped because it would basically be a midquel to Warrior Meet before it's even published, defeating any signal-boosting purposes. I'm going to take a risk and just stick to having the fights in that be hinted at in Warrior Meet, not explicitly shown because, as stated earlier, there's already a lot going on in that one. There's trying to emulate Naruto and there's being just too damn long-winded.
Instead, I've decided to go for a different fight scene, with two different OC's: Slam Tilt and Gridlock. It'll be a bonus chapter to that obscure Steam fic I posted a while back. The basic outlines are there, it just needs fleshing out on the fight scenes and actual writing. Same with the fight scenes in Warrior Meet, incidentally.
So now you know. Expect Warrior Meet to come out around... December, January, if I'm being really generous/lazy. This year hasn't been very productive for me, but then I spent a lot of it on Warrior Meet and three stories in a row got featured, which is a personal record. Haven't scored any major hits, though... maybe I do need to start chucking out oneshots, build up an audience the easy way. Anyhoot, the Fight Fic currently has the working title 'Clean-Up in Hangar 11' and will/should feature a more detailed look at how Slam and Griddy fight. Also ninja capies, because ninja capybaras need to be a thing.
No real news on the novel. I've identified the major problem areas, I kind of know where it needs extra scenes or full re-writes, but I have no idea how I'm going to actually do it. Still, three more months before year's end, I can make that resolution stick. My other resolutions are either met or pretty much as met as could be expected. Speaking of which, I'm now registered at an interim agency. The lady I talked to was very helpful, and said my case would be, and I quote "A challenge". She later went on record to say she'd pop open a bottle of champagne if she found a job for me.
Hey, paid work and champagne? Count me in!
Next blog, unless something comes up, will be in regards to practising fight scenes.
Cracker out.
