IN WHICH A CONCLUSION ELUDES ME
I did not expect to finish a Mayor Mare story before the Dazzlings story I've been working on for longer, but them's the breaks sometimes. In terms of writing, the Dazzlings story is more complex, though it doesn't seem like it. Most of that is the frankly absurd number of music references woven into the dialogue, but the rest is that I have no idea how to conclude it.
I've never considered myself very good at writing conclusions. That's why the majority of my fics on this site end on stingers – Lows & Highs is a major exception, and that's one of several reasons I'm kind of proud of it. Even in school, I couldn't conclude papers for shit. It's amazing they gave me a degree given how hard I fail at wrapping things up. With luck, I'll figure out how to end it before the end of the week. I write in TextEdit, so I have no clue what the word count is -- probably not much over 1000. I want to finish it so I can finally move on to other ideas I have.
I know I've said this before, but I envy the prodigious writers on this site, who can crank out 5,000+ words a week, whereas I struggle to do much of anything, writing-wise or IRL. I won't get into details here; probably next blogpost, for which I apologize in advance.
