Headcanon is Hard · 11:49pm Aug 10th, 2016
I have not yet watched any of the Legend of Everfree clips yet for personal reasons, yet I have heard quite a bit about them, enough to make me realize just how much my own headcanon has diverted from the entire franchise's own canon; it's not quite as good a feeling as I would have thought. It feels kind of awkward and makes me a little nervous, honestly. Sometimes I feel like we fanfic writers are almost at war with the official material—trying to build and hold firm to our own ideas and visions in the face of being continually debunked. It can get a little depressing at times.
One tiny reason why I'm glad I take so long to write; I have the time to process the new official stuff and adjust my plans accordingly.
That said, don't worry about it. Fanfics and headcanons get invalidated all the time.
I'm not going to say too much but for future fanfic ideas you might want to bight be bringing back butt kicking Flash Sentry.
I just want to tell you not to worry at all about your own canon going too far away from what is the official show canon. True it can be risky at times, but that's part of why it is so fun. If you limit yourself to the show canon you limit your imagination, but making your own canon can be fun and exciting, and in some ways it can be better than what is official.
I that it might sound cheesy but I believe making your own canon just adds to a "multiverse" of canons that exist. You can watch what is official for ideas and try to stay close if you want, but from what I've seen so far you have nothing to worry about your own canon going too far away from the show's because you've done a good job so far. I love your continuity just as I love others that fans have established, but I still enjoy the official continuity.
So I encourage you to keep going and not worry so much about what is official and what isn't. The way you portray Flash is one of the best I've seen and that's not something a lot of people can say.
4143069 That's the plan.
4143100 Thank you for all of your encouragement. And as for your opinion on headcanon:
That's pretty much what I think whenever an author tries to hard to stay true to the "official" canon. Some notable example include the fic "Bleach: Aftermath" and the author Ultra Sonic. It tends to ruin the story.
Hey, that's what "Alternate Universe" tags are for
