IN WHICH I WROTE SOME STUFF
I did it I did it I did it I did it. Finally, after months of on-and-off work, mostly while my mind was in some pretty horrible places, I finally finished Lows & Highs. As is my custom, I'm going to sit on it for at least a day and then reread it to see how much I should change before making it public.
The story ended up clocking in at just under 3000 words. Honestly pathetic considering how much time and energy I put into it. But, in my defense, this is a story where each passage - especially the ending - had to be just right (at least for my low writing ability). Unlike most of my work, I deleted and rewrote entire sections of this one several times. An earlier blogpost features some bits I cut out. In this sense too, it is the polar opposite of its sister-story.
The one thing I had to keep telling myself while writing the climax — sometimes less is more. I found myself constantly revising dialog to tamp down my own tendency toward wordiness. The last thing anyone on the brink wants is a lecture.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it once it's posted. Not gonna lie; I'm even more worried about this one than I was about its predecessor.
PS - What's next? Either a Dazzlings story, or a new chapter of Mayor's Break Time. I've started both. No promises.
