This year's E3 was a bit of a letdown. · 2:37am Jun 20th, 2016

There, I said it.

The only thing I got excited about that I didn't already know about was Resident Evil 7 (which doesn't take a page from Outlast, but half the damn book), and maybe the Crash Bandicoot remasters.

I was already excited for Titanfall 2. Already anticipating Horizon Zero Dawn. The Xbox One S was a given, and Project Scorpio is either gonna be underwhelming, or a niche and ahead of its time.

The very best PC graphics cards cannot maintain 60 fps at high or ultra graphics settings at 4k. It's not here yet. Either this thing is going to be wicked expensive, or every single game is going to have dynamic scaling a'la Halo 5, where anything more than 20 feet away is animated under 30 fps. All in all, 4k monitors are not affordable yet.

And the only thing I'll say about Nintendo is that they should be fucking embarrassed. One game. You came to E3 with ONE GAME, and you have the balls to say "It's not about teraflops, it's about content." when you commented on Scorpio. Are you fucking kidding me?

It WAS a brand new Legend of Zelda. And by brand new I mean something that's NOT a retread of every other single fucking Legend of Zelda and you can have more FREEDOM with Link this time rather then before.

Nintendo also announced a new Mario Party for the 3DS and another Paper Mario game (though it seems to be like "Sticker Star" in which they're going to try something different), plus they showed off more of "Sun and Moon".

And what about "South Park; The Fractured But Whole" that was announced by Ubisoft, and the "Spider Man" game for the PS4? Those sound promising.

It seems like only Microsoft didn't have anything for the near future, they're betting their hopes on this Scorpio project. But if they even want to hope for a chance, they need to get some good console exclusives in their roster, because at the moment I can't think of a single game for the X-Box One that you can't also get for the PS4, that's worth playing.

4035093 That kinda falls on deaf ears, because I'm not a Zelda fan. So ONLY Zelda fans got anything on the console side.

4035118 They're more then likely setting up next year's Nintendo consle.

Any weird on a new version with better hardware ps4?

4035120 Which at this point I'd bet money on having some near-useless gimmick that makes third party support non existent.

The only things that really interested me were the South Park and Dishonored 2 demonstrations. RE7 looks mildly interesting, but I'd have to see more before I consider buying it.

4035134 Same. I played RE5 to the end because Wesker was in the cast, but I never bothered with 6

4035093 And you are sorta wrong there... the new Zelda game is kinda retreading the very first Legend of Zelda from WAY back in the 80s on the NES. That game had no set story (other than what was in the instruction manual), was free roaming (for a given definition; you could go anywhere including the absolute final dungeon right from the start) and let the player decide how to tackle the game at their pace; Later Zelda games (starting with Link to the Past) put more of an emphasis of "go to these dungeons in this order to get items to open up more of the game world" than the first one did. Nintendo even said that it was the first games open-endedness and players not being handheld to be told what to do was what they are emulating with this new one.

Still, I like the new changes they've implemented, so I will give it a chance when it comes out.

4035134 Yeah, I too am waiting for "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" as "The Stick of Truth" was how a licensed video game SHOULD be done. Plus given the sh*t that game got away with that not even their movie was willing to touch, I can't wait to see what cultural taboos/sacred cows/whatever they are gonna poke fun at next!

4035102 Re-core, Scalebound, the new Forza (for those who love racing; not my cup of tea), Gears of War 4, and (my personal favorite "waiting-on" game) State of Decay 2 all are Xbox One exclusives that look awesome. And upcoming indie games Cuphead and Below are also gonna be on the Xbox One (not PS4).

What about For Honor, South Park, Detroit, or God of War? Those definitely got my attention.

4035290 Awesome for your attention. I only played God of War 1. I don't have a PS4

4035315 Ahh, that makes sense. To be fair, I don't either, but I do have an older brother who does.

4035175 that was the goddamn worst. I had to stop watching for a bit during that part of their presentation.

4035315 Scalebound, fractured but whole, resident evil (sorta), and zelda(yay for nintendos one real game) is about it for me. I will be buying Skyrim again because I'm bethesdas bitch I guess. Definitely not last year's E3 though.

4035365 MS needs to get their shit together in PC, or their Windows 10 games are going to flop just like Games For Windows Live.

4035376 Is it really that bad? I'm not a PC player, just a dirty console plebeian.

4035382 Their games on the Windows Store use UWP, or Universal Windows Platform, a'la the Xbox One.

So both Vsync and Fullscreen Windowed are forced on, which severely hampers what GPUs can do with modern games.

4035384 No idea what vsync but forced full screen would suck. Especially if it fucks with the gpu.

4035389 No, forced fullscreen windowed. There's a difference.

Essentially, Fullscreen Windowed enables the use of monitors outside the game without the need to alt-tab out. It is considerably more taxing on the GPU because it's not dedicated solely to the game. The only game I use Fullscreen Windowed on is SWTOR, because it's almost five years old, and I can maintain 90 fps with maxed graphics.

And Vsync prevents screen-tearing and other graphical artifacts, but usually locks you to 30 or 60 fps. The thing people don't like about this is, if you dip down to 59 or anything below 60 with Vsync off, enabling Vsync would take you all the way down to 30 in most games.

Technically, all games on Xbox One use Fullscreen Windowed because you can go Home (alt-tabbing out in a sense) and the game still runs.

4035462 Ah, ok. I think I'm getting what your saying. Like I said I'm a console pleb. I haven't owned a PC for a couple years so I haven't even experienced anything with windows 10.

Thoughts on Bethesda's showing? If you've already commented on this, I seem to have missed it.

4035561 The possibility of getting Skyrim Remastered for free on Steam is huge.

4035579
Ah, yeah, heh. Still gotta play that myself.

Nothing really caught my eye. I never played Zelda, Mario Party, or God Of War, so none of those announcements mattered to me. Didn't like the original Dishonored, but yay for the fans. Pretty much the only things I'll be picking up are the Fallout 4 DLC, because I already have the season pass, and maybe the Skyrim Remaster.

I didn't really expect alot from Nintendo in the first place. I watched their part for the sole purpose of two games. Pokemon and Zelda. We already had alot of information on pokemon already, but it was still nice to see a little more. The zelda showcase was something I ate right up. In fact it finally dawned on Nintendo (after 30 years mind you) that link needed to be able to jump. Go figure. But I digress.

Looking at Nintendo for more than that? That's was your problem. This wasn't Nintendos year is all. No need to bash them so damn hard. I wasn't all that impressed with the xbox one S other than they gave it 4k. I know it's opinion but it's a really harsh opinion when we didn't really expect anything from Nintendo in the first place.

And no I'm not looking to make you angry. In fact I love reading alot of your posts. While I'm not a huge fan of KOTOR I sure liked seeing you talk about doom and all sorts of other stuff. Keep it up.
