Finals Are Over!! · 4:06pm Jun 10th, 2016
They're done! They're finally done!! My college classes are over for the term and I'm free to do as I please!!
Actually no, I'm not free to do as I please because if I was, I would be on a motorcycle trying to ride the canyon roads as fast as possible and able to stay up late writing for as long as I wanted. But this is close enough. So, finals are finished and I think I did pretty damn good this quarter. For my automotive class, I finished strong at the top of the class with a 95.0% for my final grade! After taking first place in the final exam, we got our (sort of) final grade reports after shop clean-up the next day and all of us were biting our nails; three of us in particular (including me) were fighting each other to see who would take the top spot in our final class of first year auto. It was a super tough battle between all three of us, but the final score was me in first with 95.0%, our Country Boy in second with a 92.5%, and our Stoic Esse in third with a 92.3%. I want to take a moment and thank them for pushing so hard this term as they forced me to put on my try-hard pants and really work to keep my first place throne in class! Now, I'm off for a week before I prepare for my internship at a dealership back home and head out to Kentucky for a national automotive competition.
There is just no rest for the wicked, it seems...
Or for the highly skilled.
But what does this mean for my story writing? Well, supposedly (and I'm saying this with very large quotation marks) I should be freed up for now to really start making some headway on the next couple of chapters, have them edited, and posted up at some time soon; supposedly. In reality, I will probably laze about like every other college student on break doing nothing, playing games, watching TV, editing music, and just about anything else that doesn't involve work or is work related. Hopefully, I'll get my lazy ass out of bed or whatever couch I may find myself on and actually get some writing done. Either that, or I will be trying to prepare for my internship and competition. May my will to write be stronger than my desire to be lazy; god help us all.
Also, I realize that father's day is in a week from now. Since I don't know if I will be able to make a post on that day to celebrate it, I'll do it now. So, Happy Father's Day! Go give your dad a hug, a handshake, a man hug, a beer, a call, whatever your dad would like to do, do it. Let him know you appreciate all the hard work he's done for you and do something fun with him. I wish I could be home with my dad for it; I would love to go on a motorcycle ride with him.
Have a great break everyone! Don't get too crazy/drunk/high/lazy/all of the above and I will see you all in the next chapter!!
happy to hear things are going s well for you. I am impress that you have been so dedicated to your studies that that you got first place in your class ranking and that you got mutually supported by good friends of your who are just as dedicated as you are. Hope the competition will go well for you, I am sure you will succeed in getting first prise with your dedication to your craft like in your marshal arts.
4013576 we were splitting hairs the entire time and i was actually nervous of losing the spot! for the longest time i was getting comfortable to having a 5-10% difference between me and the next guy, so it wasn't like i was stressing. this time they really put the heat on and forced me to do some extra work to stay on top. but it was good fun and now we're all moving onto the next part which is internships and summer term.
4013632 so what got the your friends to put their act together to actually threaten your spot? was it on your insistence? Also, what are intensives for you to have to work so hard for your score? is it just the principle of to do your best?
4013730 well, the two beat me last class in overall grade during manual transmissions and drivetrains; so they saw that as their opportunity to knock me off my throne. Our country boy boasted that he was going to beat me again for engines and take my first place crown and I told it wasn't going to happen. So that started a snowball of the three of us fighting amongst each other to get top spot. The only incentive for us was bragging rights, but that was good enough for us to see who could be the top student.
