Shadowmane PX-41

Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

That moment when you feel like you got shafted... · 9:56am Jun 1st, 2016

I don't think anyone else is reading my Adagio and Lemon fanfic, because after one day, it's only accumulated 80 views, aside from the up and downvotes.

Just like Good Sport, I feel shafted. I just don't know when to post a new story considering I'm not an american like the rest of you. And I'm not sure what to do.

Do I just leave it to gather dust, or do I try to plead to others to read it?

I just don't know...:fluttercry:

To the dismay of many, not every author will always be rewarded the spotlight. I know how it feels to feel pride for a piece of work, one that you put your heart into... and have it be shafted. But, this is something all authors eventually have to go through, whether they like it or not. If you want to be an author full throttle, you have to learn to cope with failure, and try to improve from there. It's like they say, "If at first you don't succeed... try, try, again."

Since a large portion of the brony fandom is American (like myself), you have to find a way to cope American time zones with your own. For example, I live on the East side of America, and I live in Florida. The timezone on this side is the EST timezone. As I am writing this, it is 8:16 am. I'm not sure what the other time zones are called, but I'm pretty sure over near California on the west side is the GMT timezone.

If you really want my advice on how to get your story recognized still, I would say to promote it to bigger groups, but I already see you have done that, even in your own blogs. So, an alternative way to promote your story could be asking someone you know or a close friend who has more of a following to promote you, or (and this is a bit of a stretch) ask a one of those fanfiction reading YouTubers to promote or read your story. If you have your own YouTube channel or other streaming, media-sharing account, you could go there as well.

I wish I could snap my fingers and have the answer, but I cannot. I do hope I helped at least some.

Hey, just treasure the readers you did get. That's what I do anyway.

i say hold in there. i'm not American, nor living there either, so i face a similar issue.

just hold out. it can take time sometimes, and other times explode with views. it's random chance, really. i say wait and see where things go.

is it in any groups? adding a story to a group can cause the views to skyrocket.

3990894 It's in literally every group it fits in, but no dice.

So I may not be that helpful, but I agree with Bricklayer. Just take what you can get! I've got like five reads on mine, but I don't care. Again, I've only just started so I am probably not that helpful, but I know that your fans love your work and will read it whenever they see it!

Side note: Holy crap I love you guys so much, your stories are amazing and makes me want to write!:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Hope this kind of helped.
