Live On - A Poem · 6:21pm May 27th, 2016
Live On
A man looked to me and said;
“All your fame is in your head,
The world will forget you when you’re gone.”
But I smiled at him, instead;
Turned around and looked ahead,
Because through it all, I will live on.
A woman looked at me with shame.
The world within my soul to blame.
With my hubris I let hatred spawn.
But through it all, I stood tall;
Never surrender, never fall.
I showed I was nobody’s pawn.
And now I sit here, at my keys
Writing my soul, so hear me please.
You see, it is for this, that I live on.
The world may turn without me;
But still I struggle to see thee,
And make myself known, before I’m gone.
Time to Write and Edit; 3 Minutes, 49 Seconds.

It's been years since I wrote a poem, but someone sent me one they wrote, based off something I did and it just made me want to write one again. This is what came out of my head. I'm rather pleased with it.

That line kind of reminds me of this One Piece quote:

Bingo. See, I have a vision; immortality through memory. Look at people like Robert Jordan. Edgar Allan Poe. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. They are dead, some very dead, but their names still live on through their memories. Through their books. As long as one person loves the work I do, I will never die.
And then, I can go on giving people what I love; stories that excite and enthrall. Till the end of days, I want my stories to make people love reading. That's my ultimate goal, I suppose... Yes, I am totally insane.

Well, at least you don't suffer from insanity. I'm sure you enjoy every minute of it.

Oh, very much so. I harness it.
Like I've said, all writers are a little unhinged. I mean, you need to be, fitting the personalities and voices of all your characters into your head. The best writers are able to think with many minds, giving them a degree of empathy that many don't have.
