An Update on Stories (feat. Bricks in the Wall) · 12:08am May 3rd, 2016
So, how’s everyone doing? Hopefully everyone’s well. This year’s already been a lot better than the last one for me at least.
I just wanted to do a quick update on some of the stories that are going to be coming out the rest of the year for all those who care, as well as give an update on Bricks in the Wall, so let’s just get into it.
I’ve recently completed a story of mine that’s just been eating away at my thoughts and free time for a while now. With that finally out of the way, I’m going to be focusing all of my time and energy into finishing my oldest story on this site, Bricks in the Wall.
Man, I’m so sorry to all the people who were reading that story. I first published it way back in 2012, and the last time I updated it was in November of 2014, with the second-to-last chapter. I haven’t touched the last chapter in over a year. I'm sure most people have completely forgotten about it by now, but oh well.
But now I’m feeling it again, and I’m going to try my hardest to finish the damn thing before another entire year passes. It may be a few more months, but I really want to finish this story, especially because I love the ending I have planned.
If that’s all you’re here for, then you can head off now. Hopefully I’ll see you again before the year is out.
Everyone else, let’s talk about what happens even after that.
I have some major stories planned, both of which I think are going to be absolutely amazing. One of them is really new, but the other I’ve had bits and pieces written out as far back as 2013.
A Horse with No Name – This story. If you’ve liked anything I’ve done, you’ll want to read this. Put simply, it’s a multipart story about a young Saddle Arabian stallion who ventures out into the vast and inhospitable Tykiv Desert in search of the fabled ocean that lies on the other side, though he might just find something more along the way.
It’s going to be a mix of slice-of-life and adventure, and will feature both a lot of sand and a lot of walking, as well as flashbacks about life in the rural village he calls home. I’m so excited for this story. It’s been in my head since 2013, and may end up being one of my favorite things I’ve written. I can’t wait until I can get this one out.
Alone in the Universe – This is going to be a different take on something that’s been done a lot before. This is a multipart story about an old stallion who lives alone in the woods, discovering that there is life beyond the stars when an alien spacecraft crash-lands in the remote forest surrounding his house. And what will he do when he finds the only surviving member of the crew, badly injured by the crash?
I don’t have much else to say about this one yet, though it will come after A Horse with No Name. It’ll be mystery, drama, slice-of-life, and, of course, sci-fi. I'm real excited about this one as well.
A Summer Sun Celebration Tale – This is going to be a very quaint story about a family living in Ponyville. It’s the day of the 1000th Summer Sun Celebration! Everyone in town going to go see Princess Celestia in the flesh and watch her raise the sun! It’s going to be so much fun! But, we all know what happens next. But, all the citizens who turned out for the festivities have no idea what’s going on. All they know is that their very pleasant holiday just took a turn for the worse.
This is just going to explore, through the eyes of a loving family from Ponyville, what exactly happened to all the citizens back in town when Nightmare Moon came back. It’s just a one-shot slice-of-life, that’ll be out sometime after these other two.
In addition, I have a bunch of shorter, more experimental stories floating around in my head that I may get to at some point, but there’s nothing concrete there yet.
And that’s all there is for now. At somepoint during all that, I’ll have to search for a new editor, since the one I used to have vanished from the face of the earth, but that’s not really relevant to anything you guys will have to worry about. Hopefully I won't have any major setbacks, like having to move another four times this year, or something.
In the meantime, keep on keeping on.
Interested to see A Horse With No Name. It's been mentioned on your userpage for ages, and I'm glad to see you're finally bringing it to fruition.
Oh, and Bricks In The Wall update. Super excited to read the conclusion. Keep at it, man!
