That's some pretty rad stuff.
3902386 Thanks! I even submitted a few to EQD. I got a response saying they'd add it to their next cosplay post. We'll see.

I've always kinda been interested in cosplaying although I'm terrible at crafting, so I likely could not create my own costume. That said, do you think they'd let me into a convention wearing something irrelevant like this?

My medieval gambeson and hooded cape plus some cuffed chainmail gauntlets are the closest things I have to an actual cosplay.
3902480 why not? I saw people cosplay as Steven Universe characters and various video game characters (like Lollipop Chainsaw of all things)

Awesome! A few of my relatives helped me out with making a Vincent Valentine cosplay for an anime convention I attended three years ago, but it disintegrated a long time ago.
My main excuse for not going to conventions is not having the time, but I also really am intimidated to go if there's not going to be anyone I personally know attending. I'd hate to just show up and go around, look at stuff, see some stuff, and be totally alone in the crowd. I'd also hate to be that guy who's like, "I do audio readings. Wanna be friends?"
3902501 Well, this convention was the first MLP con I've ever been to, but if it was anything to go by, there are a lot of friendly people there who are looking to talk to people who understand their pastel pony interest. I wouldn't shy away from a con simply because you'd have to go alone. These events usually put together panels and activities that let you easily meet and relate to new people. I don't know about you, but the gaming panels and events were really easy to just sit down and talk to strangers. That might just be me though. I feel most at ease when I have playing cards, dice, or a game controller in my hands.

Was there anybody playing any standard 52-card deck games, or was it more trading cards?
I'm not so sure about how social I can be when I play a game. When I get into a game, I tend to focus unless I'm playing with close friends or family. No doubt, they'd likely have events there that I'd love to see. When I went to that anime convention, which was my first, I unwittingly went on one of the off-days, so there wasn't much going on, and everybody there seemed to pretty much be in their own groups. There was a voice acting event, though, which was nice. It featured the guy who narrates for the DBZ Kai episodes.
3902848 lol! Yeah no, I was referring to the MLP card game. I suppose it must just be me then, as I have an easy time trading gaming stories with other players despite my general antisocial personality. "Man, there was this one time I made an inventor in a Deadlands tabletop game, and her sanity score dropped, so the GM made her have a split personality that was a gremlin who dismantled everything her 'sane' persona built." (which actually happened btw. Challenging roleplay, but it led to so many lolz for our group.)

I trade console gaming experiences sometimes, but I almost never have anything remarkable to say about specific card games or board games. I've never heard of that particular game; it sounds immersive. I've always wanted to try something like D&D, but I'd no one to play it with. The pitfall of growing up with few neighbors my age and no siblings.
I do have this one time where I immediately won a round of Rummy right off the deal. I wish I could calculate the odds of that, but I'd say they're pretty slim. Now if only I could work that luck into something highly practical!
3902871 Deadlands is basically D&D but set in an alternate history Wild West America with magic and steampunk. If you ever want to give tabletop gaming a try, you should check out your local comic book / hobby shop, or if you're up to the idea, roll20.net. The latter is great if you lack nerd hangouts in your area, though it tends to be better when you have a mic for voice. Camera is optional. You can find groups that welcome new players no problemo.

I'm not much of a steampunk fan, but not really opposed, either. Awesome! I appreciate the suggestions and the resource!
