The Significance of 25,000 · 7:13am Apr 24th, 2016

Sometime early morning April 23rd 2016 the number of page view on my user site ticked over 25,000. While this was accelerated by the fact that I've recently published a 30 chapter novel, it still feels special. You see, when you write traditional paper books, there are few numbers that you can know. One of them was that the print run of my first book, The Girl from the Emeraline Island, was 25,600 copies. Of that, the booksellers return 600 copies destroyed (practice in the industry). That means I sold 25,000 books. That many readers at minimum read my book. Here, in roughly 11 months, I've had 25,000 pages viewed of things I've written. Yes, I know you that's not 25,000 readers, and I know because of the way page views work, probably 500-600 of those views are me going back over my work. But, to me, it feels like I am getting my message out to a mass of readers, and that feels immensely good. I'm getting back into the swing of writing, and am beginning to work on ideas back in my home genre of SF. I don't feel like that it is impossible to write anymore. And that's good. I don't think I'm going to be leaving the scene here anytime soon, but I'm healing the wounds.

So, thank you everypony.
