    UK Elections

    Congratulations, Brits.

I was rooting for the Elmo cosplayer, but the Trump cosplayer seems nice. The tweet salt is quite fantastic, gonna mine me some for a while.

    The Outer Worlds

I got the game because it looked like the Fallout fix I needed. Obsidian, who made New Vegas, made it. It looked like Space Fallout and had a lot of similarities. Waited for the Black Friday sale, then grabbed it for $48. Thanks for the holiday, you turkey-eating Americans.

Visiden Tries It: The Death of Sunset Shimmer · 4:19am Mar 21st, 2016

I'm going to try something different again, this time; a radio play. Obviously, it's a different medium, one that I don't have a lot of experience listening to let alone creating. Still, I'm going to try to react and analyze as a listener, not as some expert. Not that I would even call myself an expert in fanfic anyway.

Anyway, here's a link to it.

And....let's begin.

Synopsis states that Sunset's off to solve her own murder. Okay...so long as Lindsay Lohan isn't involved we should be fine.

We have some sobbing mystery girl zipping up a bag before driving off. I'm guessing this is our killer? She's all guilty over having killed Sunset, apparently, but I'm guessing not guilty enough to turn herself in.

From the Writer of Truth be Told and the Creator of The Heroic Tale of Heroically Heroic Heroes

Well, someone's got no problem tooting their own horn. Not that I mind. Hell, I've read Truth be Told, and it is something to be proud of. I think this ought to have some voiceover though. After all, this is a radio play, and we wouldn't be able to read this if this was actually coming out of the radio. Or maybe we should just call this a video play or something? I like the ominous piano playing too, quite fitting.

Around three minutes in, we have a dog walker discovering presumably Sunset. He says something about night swimming, so I'm guessing it's still night.

Hey there, can you hear me? Are you conscious?

I used to do this to my brother when I was younger. Whenever I saw him asleep, I would shake him and ask if he was asleep. Of course, even then, I knew it was a dick move, which was precisely why I did it. So this dog walker's either incredibly dense, or a dick.

Sunset groans about being cold. There's no teeth chatter or any audio of shivering, that's a sign of severe hypothermia meaning her body's shut down to the point that its normal warming up methods have stopped, or an oversight on the voicing. Or maybe she's a zombie.

The dog walker snarks at Sunset's night swimming as opposed to trying to warm up the obviously freezing girl. Okay, he is a dick. At least he has enough compassion to call for help. Oh, and he does eventually give her his jacket. He just had to snark at her first, I guess.

The dogwalker's mention of "bridge" triggers Sunset. At least she doesn't start crying for a safe space. We get a rehash of the opening scene with "flashbacky" effects. I have a suspicion that she's a ghost, but she is interacting with others. She runs into another person. At first I thought it was Vinyl Scratch from the voice as it sounds a bit like the Vinyl Scratch voice in the "Puppet to Her Fame" reading, but the credits list Gilda.

For someone who's freezing and suffered some knocks, Sunset's pretty lucid. She responds well to people talking to her and is still able to walk around. Gilda interrogates Sunset, then berates her for being a druggie rather than try to help. That's not a surprise, I suppose, Gilda is an asshole. Then she relates an anecdote about drop-in centers. That's right, Gilda, make this about you.

The first episode ends with the reveal that she has dun dun dun! Amnesia. Laser-guided amnesia from that looks of it as she remembers being thrown from the bridge, but not anything to implicate a would-be killer.

Since we're playing guessing games at this point. I suspect the entrie Mane 6. They invited Sunset to a party, fed her cyanide-laced cakes, shot her in the back when she didn't keel over, beat her seemingly lifeless body with clubs, then dumped her in the river. And she's still alive so she can lay her curse.

Well, that's not a bad start. Intriguing set up. I do like a good mystery. Voice acting and sound effects are pretty good. I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully, there won't be huge time gaps between them.

Should we be concerned that you may have a soul?

I had a soul once, but I traded it in for a cool sword that scales well with my stats.

:raritystarry:

S... sempai noticed me?

All joking aside, wow. You have no idea how much this means to me. You're one of my writing idols, so to hear you say such things is ... just ... wow.

Scribbler cannot English today.

Thank you so much.

It's nice to see it reviewed professionally while unprofessionally? I liked it and was fascinated by it because I listen to a few on the big radio.
I had a go at a radio play a few weeks back and they are such a butt to write. To create the imagery you only have back ground noises and whatever you can legitimately ram into the speech without sounding like a scooby doo episode. Plus, all that while using any mates you can blag as voice actors.
Anyone would have to half ocd nuts to try one of these, so I'm thinking Scribbler has the credentials for something remarkable!

What's your build?

As I am a mundane human being, my stats are perfectly even.

Ah, yes. Quite popular these days.
