Ajax and Extra Emoticons Updates · 4:51pm Feb 23rd, 2016

A new version of Nosey Hound and FimFic Events are now available that fixes some problems due to fimfiction's ajax calls changing.

FimFic Events is used in FimFiction Advanced so you will have to reinstall that too, along with any third party scripts that might be using FimFic Events as well.

I've also updated Extra Emoticons. The last time I properly worked on it was quite a while ago, and since then I've learnt a lot more about writing performant javascript. A lot of that was already implemented into Extra Emoticons as I learnt but I never really got around to applying it to Extra Emoticons. So this version I've gone through and applied some of what I know to hopefully improve performance.

This version also fixes some bugs, most notable that old emoticon urls wouldn't be converted like I said it would. :twilightoops:

The downloads are all available from the usual locations, please remember that when updating Extra Emoticions you have to reinstall all of your content packs.

If there are any problems with the new scripts be sure to leave me a comment and let me know.

Edit: Fixed a bug in FimFic Events that caused some events not to fire.
Edit2: Fixed a bug that caused Extra Emoticons to stop working.

How does Fimfic Events work?

Also after downloading the extra emoticon packs (Pony Pack + Kaomoji), I can't find them in the comment box.

Do you mean to ask what it does?

How it actually works is actually quite sneaky. :moustache:

3773011 How do i download scripts on Firefox? Clicking the links don't seem to work.

Deviantart seems to be messing with the links.

I must make a note to move the pages off of there.

To get the script to install try copying the address after the script appears in the window (the one without the deviantart.com part) and past it into the address bar and hit enter. That should trigger the addon correctly.

3773066 That works. Thanks!

3773011 also you're being totally unfair. Fimfic Event doesn't even sound like a secretive thing.

It essentially works by intercepting the site's ajax calls. :moustache:

Inserts a proxy that injects callbacks both before and after an ajax result is handled. It's mostly documented over here, and I'll be adding the information from this post to that as well.

3774437 oh it's that kind of subtle
