Good Times, Bad Times, You Know I Had My Share · 11:38pm Feb 19th, 2016
Good news:
The albums I ordered came in!
Bad news:
One of them shipped without the cd. It's the one I was looking forward to as well!
Exactly why I didn't let myself get too excited. Third party sellers on Amazon are hit or miss. Fortunately, it only cost a few dollars, and I'll see what I can do for a refund or replacement. I'm not too concerned about it.
Any of you like Ozzy? I know I do. The two CD's I ordered are specifically the 90's issues. Music on disc almost always sounds better than the MP3's out for download, and the mix on these issues are the best available. If you don't know, a trend over the past years in record producing is to compress all the instruments so they sound louder. This makes the soft parts too loud and the loud parts too soft, and the instruments blend together too much. There are newer CD's of these albums out, but like many classic album remasters, that compression detracts from the sound. There's your music lesson for the day.
and I told you these were the best versions, shame about the missing disc.
3765220 My life isn't complete without it!
I love the older classic rock bands. Among my favorites are Alice Cooper, Neil Young, Melissa Etheridge, and of coarse Ozzie Osborne and a few others I sadly can not remember off the top of my head.
Love Ozzy. Sorry about the disk. Hope you find a way to get it. That's the thing about online shopping:
Advantage: I can shop from the comfort of my home without having to leave my bed and wearing nothing but pj trousers and a tank top.
Disadvantage: The delivery can get messed up/not arrive.
Really hope you get the disk.
Yeah, ordering from amazon can sometimes be a bit hit-or-miss. I ordered a text book a few weeks ago and it came in a plastic bag with a big sticker that said inspected by amazon. When I opened the bag I found that my book was covered in what appeared to be dirty petroleum jelly. They were quick to give me a refund, but I still had to send that book back and order a new one.
I've listened the Black Sabbath songs that everyone have probably heard (Iron Man, War Pigs, etc.) , but have never listened to any of Ozzy's solo music. Not really my favorite vein of rock music, but some of it is OK.
You're probably referencing another song entirely, but hey, you made me think of this.
Strange, why, how, I have questions!
Oh wait I have some ideas! speakers now a days like to often work with a bisound sort of system where the background music or sounds come from one speaker and the focus sounds like the main singer come from the other.
Maybe they think doing this makes it sound better.
Maybe that makes it easier to program it, or to account for not so well recorded sounds against more clear ones.
or maybe it's just too much to account for softer sounds when it comes to remastering the albums.
Either way I'm always grateful when someone teach me something. Thanks!

3766234 I'm referencing this:
3766399 I don't remember the exact reason, but I think it's just record companies thinking it sounds better for some reason: loudness=better? The "loudness wars," as it's called, has died down the past few years fortunately. Here's an example of it.
You probably won't hear a difference if you don't use relatively good headphones or surround sound speakers such as in a car.
