Concerning Dark Material · 1:34am Feb 10th, 2016
To keep you all in the loop.
Those of you that may know, the last chapter that I published had some dark material. In the past two weeks, I have watched a steady stream of (for lack of a better term) hate mail, show up in my inbox. Voicing their disapproval for what happened as well as the gruesome fan art. I have taken the criticisms (And growing dislikes) to heart and have opted to omit them from the story in favor of a less lethal option.
Basically,
Twist isn't dead, she was put through a process called soul stopping and is in Canterlot (along with parents) undergoing rehabilitation as per the princesses orders.
The story will remain the same and this isn't a big issue. There will be some dark parts, but again I sprinkle stuff in and never overly shove it down the readers throat. I guess the saying with this is "Less is More."
For those of you that have voiced to me about not changing because people dislike it. To be completely honest, I still agree with that, but the sad truth for me is that when I log on and see that my story jumped in dislikes, it makes me not want to write. I guess the death of Twist was a leak that I feel needed to be plugged and it took some time to look at the story and decide if it could continue without that aspect and I am delighted to answer with a yes.
Next chapter should be out fairly soon, i'm finishing up with 18 now.
P.S. obligatory shameless plug/request. If anyone feels like helping out, PM me. I would like to try and get Shattered Skies more exposure so it can grow in views/likes/participants.
I think a contributing factor was that you killed off a recognised canon character that a lot of people like.
Why are people who apparently don't like dark elements reading a story tagged as "dark"?
I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed that you had to change your story, but that won't necessarily make me enjoy it any less. As long as the changes don't force a major rewrite of the plot, and the elements within the story continue to intrigue me, I'll continue to enjoy it no matter how much death there is (or lack thereof).
Also, should I reread the revised chapter?
3744379 I am disappointed too. Though, thankfully I didn't have to rewrite much, I was able to move a few things around to keep Twist and her parents alive.
Rereading it isn't necessary. In a nutshell, all that changed is Twist is alive, but hospitalized due to Lonely Grave's magic and a sentence about Necromancy and a process that will be known as 'soul stopping'. Everything else is the same. :)
Ok, well that had to suck. Also if you want any changelings in your story, I have a mysterious and shadow based hive that you can use. I have a group based on my hive that you can join too.
