    Stories I Almost Wrote, #8

And here's the second one I haven't touched in years. Rest in peace, Love Biting.

    Stories I Almost Wrote, #7

It's been over three years since I even thought about updating this, so I might as well bury it. Rest in peace, Royally Ruffled Feathers.

First, the notes. They're as jumbled and out of order as usual, but I tried to tidy up at least a little bit.

    Bubble, Bubble...

Hello again! Remember the span of months in which Sucker For A Cute Face inadvertently produced spin-off clopfics and one bonus chapter? Well, now there's a side story set about three months after the main one, which you can read Here!

Stories I'll (Probably) Never Write, #8!

Been a while since one of these, huh? Over a year since the last plot bunny dump, two years since the last of the type detailing a story I never really tried to write in earnest. I'm not sure why I'm keeping track of that.

I think I'm doing it against my will now. Lots of words, big chapters, bigger and harder to fit into the eye-holes. Dirty joke in there somewhere.

The next SFaCF chapter is more of the usual thing; too damn long for some of us to digest in one go. That's been happening a BUNCH, and it's a bunch of bananas that led to a case of monkeys. Monkeys with fleas and dandruff and terrible fashion sense. To cull the zoo, I'm going to try chopping up my chapters a bit more when this happens, which means more Pony sooner and in more erratic fashion, like nature intended. Just without the monkeys.

In fact, I've been thinking of listening to what some of the little birdies tell me and just binning scheduled updates altogether, publishing chapters whenever they're ready, but some others have chirped a very different tune, implying that they'll curl up and hibernate if they don't get enough FlutterDagio beetles to munch on. Sing birdies, sing!

Trying to brain out this stuff. Myfacewhen.

Oh, and, new chapter in the next few days, probably the rest on Saturday. I think.

I know I don't comment on every chapter like I should. But I'm still love love loving this all the way. Just caught up over coffee this morning. (And I realized last night the faux pas I made in calling it "Sweet Face" shortly after that reply on my other fic, heh.)

As much as I'm all about her and Sunset, the Flutters angle really, really works the way you're spinning it.

For a second(?) time, I say worry not, because that feeling is known too. I try to leave a comment on every chapter I read because it's probably the most meaningful kind of feedback, but sometimes nothing comes to mind. I usually have the same problem in responding to comments, actually. :raritydespair:

*Also an avid Sundagio shipper, but I lost the steering wheel to this one a few leagues back!*

Do as you must, but this is one of my favorite reads as of recent. Adagio and Fluttershy wasn't even something I considered until i saw this, but I love what you've done with this so far. however you have it done, im glad to read more of this as it arrives. more fun dazzling shipping! woo!

More soon? YAAAAAAAYY!!! Gypsy happy :yay:

As I understand, the dilemma is it's either "writing more often, but smaller wordcount updates" or "bigger chunks of story, but update schedule is set 2 weeks"? And there was also a complaint from someone about chapters being filled with too much (in terms of amount) high quality content?
In case it's first, then smaller more frequient updates are more welcome, because this story is most definitely from "it's all about the journey" category.
If it is mostly about content updates being too big to read, then I don't really understand how it works, pardon.
If it's about writing too much and not likining it, then please, roll with whatever pace you find comfortable, guide provided.

Also, I need some kind of explanation of what is the difference between Fluttershy's "EEP!" and "MEEP!" squeak-screams.

It's kind of a spastic thing, I'm not even sure how I decide which one she does at any given time. Something to do with the syllable she butchers in trying to respond through shock/embarrassment, I think. There's a science in there somewhere. :rainbowhuh:

Totally blog unrelated, but why Sundagio is #1 in your books?

In addition to being an incredibly cute ship, I think they might be perfect for each other.

Part of it is what they have in common (on account of Adagio most likely having been designed to highlight how Sunset had changed and then be thrown away), their intelligence (as Adagio is clearly the brains of the outfit and her plan worked perfectly until Destiny™ said it couldn't anymore, I'm guessing she's reasonably smart. That, and I'll admit that part of it is just that it's more interesting to have her be a match for Sunset, being her foil and all), pride, and drive for recognition (albeit of different sorts) taking them to dark places in the past. And present, I guess, give or take Adagio's reaction to losing everything the Battle cost them. Luckily, Sunset having been there is a great start in helping to pull her out of it.

There's a lot I think they'd understand about each other, even if it's stuff one, the other, or both aren't immediately comfortable talking about, and the things they don't understand, both are smart enough to riddle out. May or may not lead to some Evil Cannot Comprehend Good (or vice versa) shenanigans.

Another part relates to Sunset herself, who I don't see syncing with a lot of characters all that easily. Unlike Twilight, Sunset has a bit of a shorter temper and would probably do better with someone as intelligent as she was. That, of course, depends a lot on character interpretation, but I don't see Sunset being happy with a dunce. Adagio has probably had enough facepalming too, come to think of it.

So, in short, I guess I just think they fit each other, like the renditions of Fluttershy and Adagio I've been using. (that, and I have some plans once a certain story really gets going... :raritystarry:) Romance has a lot to do with chemistry, you know? And some characters pretty much mesh on their own if you sit them next to each other. :coolphoto:

Sunset would probably work great with Twilight (either one, barring anyone taking Sci-Twi seriously as a former villain for a single instant) for some of the above reasons, too, and I know I've thought about Adagio with Twilight (either one) a few times before in similar contexts, but with a heavy emphasis on mind-game shipping. Unfortunately, as that particular blog post spelled out, I'm afraid it would look a lot like a re-hash of SFaCF, so writing it is a no-go for me.

You only have one chapter that's over 10k, so your updates aren't that huge.

Well, do it whichever way you prefer. I think if you think the chapters are too big then, just because you feel that way, it might not be bad to cut them in half, if and only if you can find a good breaking point.

I certainly won't complain about faster updates, but the shorter chapters always leave me wanting more. While the long chapters give me plenty to read, but force me to wait longer for updates...

Just do what works best for you. Both paths have their good and bad points, so I can't decide...
