Hey guys, thanks for reading the fic so far, and at the moment, I'm really split on where to go with the story right now. I have the overall arc already in mind, but the issue I'm having is whether or not to tie this story into my Hive series where Equestria's Twilight Sparkle is a changeling rather than an alicorn.
As with what the actual show is doing and the EQG movies, the Hive series will not be impacted by the events in WoM. At most a mention or two.
So what do you guys think? Should I go the canon route with the alicorn, or tie this story with the Hive?

stay canon because I just don't think EG happened in Hive. If Queen Twilight went to the Princess Summit her drones would be there to guard her thus Sunset would never have the chance to get the Element of Magic. Thus Will of magic just can't work with hive. however during their investigation they ran into the Hive universe that would be cool. There's no proof that Midnight Sparkle's portals when to just ONE Equestria.

I had originally rationalized the existence of EQG in Hive verse by Sunset simply being more careful in her planning to steal the crown. As with canon, queen Twilight left her drones behind after going through the portal for the same reasons princess Twilight left her friends behind.
3651115 but how would the Link work then? Cadista's link to Twilight's kids IS Twilight and i don't think the Link can cross dimensions. I do wonder now how Twilight would have looked in the 'pony up' form as a changeling.
Like I said I just don't think Sunset could pull of the robbery with the time contraints they have. heck show canon has this as a plot hole that Sunset knew Twilight had Magic, and where she slept.
If I'm not mistaken, Lyra is already from the EQG world in the Hive verse, isn't she? It's at least heavily implied. As such, I don't see any reason why the two worlds wouldn't potentially touch again.
Tie it in! Kinda curious what a changling in the human world looks like.
It would be interesting to see this tie in but I would also like to see how twilight being a changing changed things in that regard. Mabey you could do a side story on it?
Whats this about canon and Alicorns and EQG?! I havent paid much attention and would an explanation.

Well for one, EG is already linked to the hive series. Lyra and her bullet, if you recall. The mirror is kept in PR castle. Human Lyra and Pony Lyra traded places then got stranded when the portal closed.
We've talked about whether or not EG events took place in the hive verse for a long time now and in the end, yes they did. The link is highly muffled but still there so long as the portal remains open.
As for how Sunset managed the theft? In Cadance's own words, it's peaceful and boring in the Crystal Empire. The guards were present but not on high alert. Sunset used a combination of a "notice-me-not" spell on herself (kind of the opposite of the want it/need it) and sleep spells on the guards.
3651205 I don't think the Changeling Drones would be that lax. Twilight is the future of their hive. I wouldn't be surprised that they were more alert considering Twilight is Twilight as a changeling is because of lax security.
Lyra may be from that world and I bet Twilight studied the books just in case and figured out the connections and having the portal open more if needed.

Even Cadista's hive of Stripped Gear in the jungle wasn't immune to a properly sneaky foe despite living in a perpetual state of paranoia and alertness. Changelings are awesome, not flawless.

You also seem to be forgetting when the first events took place, those drones wouldn't even be 4 years old since hatching - Barely out of their Nymph years. Teenagers at best. Ling security isn't perfect as I've already pointed out.
3651303 She would have CADISTA'S drones with her. She is now they're sister after all. Again I just don't think the changelings would be as lax in security as the ponies are.

Maybe I'm misremebering as I'm a little behind on both stories, but wasn't it kind of a big deal that Lyra was actually EQG Lyra? I had thought that EQG had already been established as being a thing in the Hive series.
I think EG-universe is exists but that's it, there was no attempts from SS to steal the Element -> no magic leaked into -> no pony-up's. Plus there's somewhat different timeline, SS can wait another 2.5 years, get older, get homesick, get understanding her wrongs, give her apologies to these 5 girls and contact Celestia via the book on her own.

Twilight founded her own hive, as was always planned. She did not take over Cadista's. Two different hives. Ergo, in my mind you implied Twilight's own drones, not Cadista's.
Honestly, it sounds like you want their security to be PERFECT, which it is not. The Convoy to Stripped Gear back in the beginning was well protected for anything except overwhelming force, such as the Silence Behemoth that Silandrus had arranged and a poison chosen for assassination. It was plenty secure but still wasn't enough.
Stripped Gear itself existed in a perpetual state of red alert for centuries with thousands of changelings on hand. And was brought down by ONE intruder. Just one.
Then our trip to the Crystal Empire, a land FAR removed from the jungle and their known enemies. Their guards might drop a little. And again you choosing to ignore the "notice-me-not" and "sleep" spells. No security is perfect. None. It comes down to how badly someone wants to get past it, and Sunset really wanted that crown...
3651403 At the time Twilight is still tied to Stripped Gear. She technically still is in Reformation. the surviors of Stripped Gear answer to her now. And considering what happened to Twilight on the convoy you think they let that happen again?

My vote is stay with Alicorn while I do enjoy your other series making her a changing would be a complete 180 with you alicorn sub plot also it wouldn't make sense to send 2 changlings yet no alicorns. Also I hope the people back on earth survive by burrowing deep into the earth
Personally I would love to see this tied in with the hive series. If you can't add it in in a way that makes sense, then at least add a non-canon bonus chapter.
