Writing is hard work... · 8:51pm Dec 11th, 2015
Why hello there, curious person. How nice of you to check in on my first blog post! I was having momentary writer's block, so I thought I'd spare a word here.
Writing is hard work. An understatement, and a horrendous summary of the writing process. Maybe it's better to say writing is "complicated"? Even though I'm a creative writing graduate, I still find a great deal of challenge in wrangling my ideas into good grammar and cohesive plot.
I've never written pony fiction before. I have barely read any either. I love MLP, though, and after playing Assassin's Creed 4 and watching MLP:FiM with my son, an idea struck me:
Pony pirates would be cool.
So I'm writing a pony fic about adventures on the high seas. But being a stay-at-home mom means I have to squeeze writing in between changing diapers and crying spells. Even my dear husband can be a bit of a distraction as he putters around the house, singing, and talking with our son.
I think I have my work cut out for me. I want to get canon and fanon details down, and I'm going to have to brush up on my nautical knowledge. But despite some of my struggle to keep focused through the noise of domestic life, I'm having fun. I have the first chapter of my pony fic written, and I've already started the second.
Do you want to be my beta reader? Cool! Just send me a comment/message/smoke signal and I'll be sure to respond.
And just for fun, here's a rough idea of what my protagonist looks like for my pony fic. Thanks to Pony Creator for the image!
Thanks for reading, and take care!
