This is why. 
As you may have noticed, I go about an average 4k words pr chapter (or at least try to), but sometimes... stuff writes itself, and there was no good middle-point where I could simply say "Yup. Chapter done" and throw it at you guys.
That, and I've been swarmed with assignments lately. The last 1½ month has been nothing but assignment after assignment, and although some were small, we haven't had a moment to breathe (until now, it seems), which has kept me rather busy and drained me of any will to write.
Regardless, I got myself together a week or two back and started writing. This was the result. Soon as my lovely editors has trudged through the mass of words that is Chapter 9 of Pretence :P
That aside, I'll now drop my pretence (heh) of having been hard at work and go back to being lazy
