    BUGHORSE NEWS

Yes, I bring good news of Chrysalis story. I have finished the first draft of the next chapter and the editing team has already made a first pass on it. There's still a lot to do to polish it, but I'm hopeful that I can have it up and ready for your hungry eyes in one week. Keep a lookout!

    Life is Snow

No really, this isn't some vague metaphor. My life is literally snow right now. I'm drowning, send help.

    New year, new chapter

Hope everyone is having a great New Year's Eve (or if you're in a part of the world where it's already 2022, hope the new year's been treating you well so far). Good news: the next chapter of Paint the Sky is written, we just need to take it through a few rounds of edits and revisions before I'm ready to post it. It will probably go live at the usual time on Wednesday.

Let me take a moment to draw something to your attention:

Still don't see it? ZOOM AND ENHANCE!

That's right, two years ago today, I uploaded the first chapter of this epic adventure now over 330k words long (which surpasses the longest thing I've ever written by about 200k words)! And two years later, we're finally nearing the end.

If you'll indulge me for a little bit here, I'm going to get a little nostalgic. I wrote that first chapter back in the september of 2013. It was something I did on a whim because I couldn't get the idea out of my head, so I kinda had to... get it out of my head (not unlike RvB's resident A.I. and those pesky memories). I will admit, when I wrote that first chapter, I didn't expect to do anything with it. It just sat on my hard drive for a few months doing nothing until I uploaded Daring Don't. When that was met with... marginal success, I decided I wanted to keep trying for more marginal success, so after cranking out a few more chapters so I'd have a bit of a buffer, I uploaded the first chapter of this silly little crossover I ended up calling I Against I, Me Against You.

Looking back on it, that first chapter was a mess. Despite having been writing literally ever since I was old enough to know how, that first chapter was filled with dozens of mistakes and imperfections. I never expected much to come from it. I thought a few people might see it, and maybe one or two would like it enough to give it a follow, but beyond that? Imagine my surprise when I checked the site not hours later and saw this:

(hehe look at that old site and that old cover art)

I will admit, I probably wouldn't have been so motivated to see this project through to the end if so many of you hadn't enjoyed it so much, and you know what? I think I've grown and learned as a writer more over the two years I've spent writing this story than I have in all of my nearly twenty years of writing before. None of that would have been possible if it hadn't been for each and every one of you. Sure, much of what I've actually learned can be attributed to my editors BradtheBrony, Rough_Draft, and even KillerRobotQuote back when he was on my team, as well as the other friends I've made on this site. Shinzakura, BlueBastard, Flash Frame, and the rest of my 7DSJ compatriots.

But I must reiterate that I would never have found the drive to actually keep writing and improving my craft if it wasn't for all of you tuning in to read and comment on every new chapter. As a writer, I've always wanted to be able to just write something and put it out there for people to read and give immediate feedback on. Whether you've given me some constructive criticism or just commented on a particular line or moment from the latest chapter, I appreciate all of it.

So thank you all for reading and your continued encouragement, and I look forward to finishing this lengthy adventure once and for all so you good people can have that much needed closure!

*Nods* Glad to be of service. I got into this tale maybe 6 or so chapters before act 1 was finished, and have enjoyed it every since. Thanks for allowing me to help with it.

3588369 Dammit, Shin! You were supposed to keep that secret! Now I've gotta go make a new identity and start a new life to keep my enemies from finding me again... :ajbemused:

look at that old site and that old cover art

Jesus, stop making me feel like an old-timer, that's still the new-ish theme to me - I still remember the oldest theme, the featured box was in the top right of the banner(?), the word count was still used, and you could only favorite/follow a story and like it.

:scootangel: It's been a real blast watching this fic for the past two years, and I have enjoyed every part of it! By far, it is the best RVB/MLP crossover I've read ever.... of all time!

Sorry I'm a week late but I definitely have to give you major props for the success of your FiM/RvB crossover story.

Over the course of two years you've managed to create a story that truly combines the spirit of both shows; One being a show about anthropomorphic horses geared towards children, and the other a long running adult centered Halo machinima series.

You've also shown to have the guts to kill off these four fan favorites.

Keep up the great work!

3606348 Thanks. And wow, it didn't even occur to me that I killed off all the Lads. I guess Team Gents wins.

I was gonna say you were forgetting someone, but then I realized that you said fan favorites :trollestia:

Almost forgot; to quote Simmons:

"Happy birthday jackass. You're now one year closer to death. Why don you have some cake and speed the process up?"
