So yeah...and a asking of advice · 4:11am Dec 1st, 2015
So yeah, I have had a shitty couple of weeks and that has delayed my writing particularly badly. November has not been kind to my ability to write or well me in general. I am finally getting to a point where I should be able to get back to work though so hurrah there.
And for my question, does anyone have any idea's as to how to improve my ability to write action scenes? I want to stress that these scenes are not for in BTH2 but for a book to follow, okay there might be a bit near the end but yeah most of my action is in nightmare form for now, so don't read into this too much. Though to give out a bit more info the sequal to BTH2 that is being tenatively planned will be called Luna's University for Exceptional Ponies. Followed by a fourth installment named The Golem Maker's War. I really need to have my action down pat before at least the fourth one of this series but probably before the third one, and as such I ask if any of you have any suggestions.
I... don't know. The best I can say is pick one perspective to describe actions from, then sit down and visual what you went to happen. I do it like a mental play, in about ten second stretches before trying to write it down. Also, don't be afraid to gloss over certain portions of a clash. Focus on dramatic moments, sweeping descriptions of minor actions until the next grand thing.
Also add some fluff and flair. Toss in a bit about the surroundings, positions and bearings and such, maybe even expressions if you can fit it in.
