Monday IX (on Wednesday): All about Discord · 5:23pm Nov 11th, 2015

Edit: This somehow got double posted. Sorry about that! This is the final version.

Disclaimer: It is not actually all about Discord.

Even though most people have probably already seen this one I'm going to put up a spoiler alert anyway.

**SPOILERS**
If you've seen the episode and are interested in my words then read after the break, otherwise just move along or come back later.

In this week's episode we join Twilight Sparkle as she is dealing with her soul crushing boredome the only way she knows how. Books. Masses upon masses of books.

Since reading them has already failed her 's devised a new way to sort them that can save ponies up to a whole 0.75 seconds!

Wow... that much...

I know! Isn't it exciting!?

Unfortunately we miss all that excitement as the episode cuts right to the end of their four-day long books reshelving Booksortcation.

Twilight comes back out to find that they missed some borning old amazing adventure (or just a really good weekend) with her friends and Discord, after which I suspect Sweet Apple Acres had to change there name to Sweet Orange Acres. Juicy Orange Acres?

Twilight reacts to this about as we'd expect. Yes, she went into complete denial, tried to painstakingly recreate the scenes for SCIENCE!, and then when that failed she went into Double Denial and asked Zecora to help.

She visited Zecora and asked for a potion that would help break Discord's spell on her friends. At this point I expect Zecora to immediately see through Twilight's weapons grade denial and give her what she needed, which I guess she kind of did...

Whatever was in that bottle looked like it might be grape juice. ...or maybe some other grape related substance.

At least Pinkie seemed to like it.

In the end it all turns out to be Discord getting up to myschief. All of Twilight's friends wanted to invite her and he insisted against it causing this whole situation. Except this time, in the end he came across as being sort of profound? Just like in the Tatzlwurm incident he had his fun at Twilight's expense, but then also taught her an important lesson.

This turned out to be nice little episode. It's simple and relaxed. We see Twilight face a friendship problem, and then her having to deal with it in her own quirky way. It's a lot like the old slice-of-life episodes we got in earlier seasons. But then we also get a lot of fun little scenes, both from Discord's antics, and from Twilight having a partial breakdown.

Spike: What have I done with my life...

We even get a nice a moral to the story in the end, about how the time you spend with your friends is precious and you mustn't be ashamed of feeling a little jealous when you miss out, or something along those lines. ... I'm terrible with reciting morals.

So that was "What About Discord?" I'm always interested to hear what everyone else thought of it, what parts you liked most? Didn't like? Anything I could have added to this post? Be sure to comment and let me know!

Honoral Mentions:

"Twilight, come quick! It's your foals!"

Because there is no way I could possibly leave this out. I loved to watch those when I was young and this reference couldn't be any more relevent. Extra points if you can guess where it's from. :twistnerd:
