So as I've been reading stories here on FiMFiction, I've noticed a disturbing trend amongst a very vocal minority in the brony community, one that disturbs me. Christian haters. I'm not talking about people who disagree with Christian views, but people who full-on tell others that they are wrong for their beliefs, criticize them without actual basis, and treat them like crap.
When did this happen? When did the message of our show become, 'Hey, I don't agree with your opinion, so f*ck you!'? Did I miss something here? What's worse is that I've seen it amongst my fans here on the site. Quite frankly, I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed because someone who professes to like my work and encourages me will so blatantly go to someone who writes a Christian (or any reasonable, religiously themed fic), and criticize it based solely upon it's religious context.
I'm not talking about giving it a poor review if it isn't written well. I can understand that, even if I don't agree. It's the people who tell the person that they're wrong, ignorant, don't belong in modern society, etc... That is an insult to those who believe, and more often than not without basis.
I've had a few debates with such individuals, and often find their knowledge on the subject quite lacking to boot. How can you (those of you who actually do this) claim to have a valid opinion when you don't even understand what you're talking about!? Who among you is so much of an expert that you have the right to decry someone else's faith on the basis that you don't like it!?
For the rest of you, thank you. Thank you for accepting, or at the very least ignoring, others viewpoints enough that you don't seek to criticize. Even the most foolish man is seen as wise for knowing when to hold his tongue, and I believe that most of you out there are indeed decent people. Hate doesn't belong here, and I'm grateful for every person who understands that. Please, encourage others to stop hating on anyone, regardless of their personal beliefs.

it always does my heart good to know that someone can appreciate my opinion. I hope the people who are doing this bashing can see the errors of their ways and either give up on bashing them or at the very least keep their opinions to themselves.

Again, thank you. I don't mind the people who make reasonable statements, just the ones who are mindlessly critical. I'd hope to think that such people who make claims of decency would have the foresight to see that they're achieving the opposite.

Well religion has no place in my life but I respect its significance in the lives of others, to a point.
But, on the other hoof, finding something good in your life, you'll want to share it with others. Some will ignore it, some will be open-minded enough to give it some thought and a bit of their time, others will criticise and mock it because its different to what they normally enjoy, some will even latch on to it and let it take over their lives. I guess that's true for everything, from religion to a cartoon intended for little girls. It's because of this I don't feel anyone or anypony here has the right to bash another's religion. Just think, if you were introducing this great fandom of ponies to someone else, would you rather get the response 'It doesn't sound like it's for me but thanks for the recommendation' or 'Lololol u lyk gay girl ponies lololol' ?

I may not be Christian, but I can't believe Bronies of all people would hate on others just because they have a different belief system.
I'm atheist, but I completely accept other people's religions, and would NEVER do something as bad as to hate because of someone else's faith is different than mine. I would never expect to see that kind of behavior from a website, a BRONY website no less, like FIMFiction.
If there's one thing bronies learn from MLP, it's to love and tolerate, and spread friendship and harmony. This means not to hate, troll, or be simply mean. When that happens, we don't have the harmony of friendship, we only have a bunch of people getting angry with each other for many different reasons. That would be more suited for discord.
