Twilight floated a second fritter up to her mouth when she realized the first was gone. “What is in these things?” “Mostly love. Love ‘n about three sticks of butter.”

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble

Hey, some of you guys remember that thing I did a long time ago, where I wrote up 50 questions about headcanon and suggested people answer them on their blogs, and then, like, everyone on the site wanted to do it, and then the site mods sent me nice but stern messages suggesting I cut that shit out because it was spamming people's feeds?

    Full Circle

Wanderer D posted a touching retrospective of his time in fandom, and that made me remember the very first I ever heard of the show.

(Potential implied spoilers but maybe not? below.)

Something Fic-Like Has Been Submitted · 4:20am Oct 1st, 2015

It's called What Did You Call Me?

It's MacDash. I normally don't like MacDash, because I seem to disagree with every MacDash author ever about Dash's personality. So I wrote my own.

It's only 1500 words, because I don't care that much. (Actually, neither do most of you, probably. Except for Jake the Army Guy, who cares too much. So you should read it anyway, it's only 1500 words.)

It's also the best take on an old fandom trope ever. But that's because the trope was stupid to begin with.

So, yeah, this is a thing I did with my evening.

Brevity is the soul of wit. The shorter the fic, the more wit and soul put into it, obviously. So don't deflect, I know this means a lot to you and I'll be there to shitpost in the comments section for you, Broseidon.

Wait, this isn't SunDash.

...

Ah whatever, I'll read it anyway because any Mac ship is usually comfy as hell.

Normally anything less than three or four thousand words is an automatic pass for me, as I prefer fics with a little more time to tell a story. But... well, that's honestly kind of dumb, MacDash is a ship I've hardly ever (maybe even never?) read, and I want to see what the trope is. So I'll give it a shot.

That general sentiment, particularly the last sentence, is where a lot of my stories come from :twilightoops:

You know, one of my favorite scenes in "Brotherhooves Social" is one that nobody's talked about yet (so far as i know).

It's where Rainbow Dash tries to flip shit at Mac about him not really being Applebloom's sister.

And Mac doesn't get flustered, and he doesn't get defensive, he just flips that shit right back.

Which is awesome, but what's even better is how Rainbow Dash reacts: she doesn't get flustered, and she doesn't get defensive, she just plays it off real smooth and walks away cool--but she gives him a little lawyerly grin of admiration as she does.

She challenged him, he bested her at her own game and--she likes him the better for it. I think that's an important illumination of her character.
