General Update and Frozen Skies News · 12:34am Sep 17th, 2015
Hey guys!
Firstly, I'd like to appologize. Yeah, I know, Canadian like and such, but... seriously, I should be done this chapter by now, and I don't really have much of an excuse. At one point I did, but it's been long enough that it isn't really valid anymore. Myself and my girlfriend moved, I did a bunch of army stuff (Including fight a forest fire started by an explosive that wasn't properly cordoned off, during training) and I've been doing renovations at the new place (well, old place - back in with my parents, just with rent this time). I participated in a short story competition, and I think I'll probably post my entry to that sometime after the next chapter of FS is actually done. It still needs editing, but it might be a fun story to continue at some point.
I've been very quiet recently, kind of withdrawn a little. I'd like to change that, at least a little. Over the past summer, Frozen Skies hit several fantastic milestones, certainly not least of which was its first birthday. Another was my privilege of being up on a panel at EFNW with Tofu, Doctor Ham, Stonershy and Pacce, a group I'm certainly happy to call friends at this point even if I'm not on skype enough to talk to some of them. But another milestone them was an astonishing 1,000 unique views and 5,000 total views. I mean... wow. I know some of those are phones, different IP's, and such, but to think that so many people have at least given my story a shot is humbling, and kind of amazing when I take some time to think about it. I write this story, and the group I'm a part of plays it out beforehand, and the plan was to complete it regardless of whether it really took off or not... but to see people liking this story, to see art that's come of it, the discussions I've had with people, it makes me want to do right by you guys. I haven't felt like I've been a part of a fanbase this way before, and I certainly don't want to lose that.
And speaking of which - Frozen Skies. Honestly, I figured this chapter would be a great idea, it would be different, it would shed some light on a character who hasn't had too much of a spotlight so far. Would give a bit of background, and a bit of context. What I didn't realize was that it's... weird being in his head, and that was very frustrating. I look at the measly current wordcount of about 5k, and the fact that I'm most of the way through the content I'd wanted to include... and it just feels like it should have been done long ago. Regardless, progress is continuing. Once this chapter's done, everything's gonna be set to kick off the second "act" of the main storyline. I'm super excited for it, and I just wanted to give some forewarning when I say "the next chapter is approaching done," or at least, approaching first-draft completion. It will be different than what's happened thus far, and after it's done we'll get back to the chapter length and content you're used to, reloaded and with some really fun things in store.
