    First Blog of 2017

Hey folks! It's been a while, and I think I've been vaguely alluding to things enough that certain people are beginning to worry about me. Figured its about time for an update on how things are going, both for Frozen Skies and, well, life.

Life, Love, and Magical Combat Horses

Hello everybody, hope you're all doin well. This blog is, I suppose, mostly a personal update on my end, so if you just want writing news, it would boil down to "I haven't been making Frozen Skies progress in a while, but things are finally gonna quiet down in August, so I'll have free time once again". If you really are still interested, read on.

Hey folks! It's been a while, and I think I've been vaguely alluding to things enough that certain people are beginning to worry about me. Figured its about time for an update on how things are going, both for Frozen Skies and, well, life.

2016 was one hell of a year, and though the first quarter of 2017 is already in its closing days, I think it's worth giving a sendoff to what I, at least, felt was a pretty terrible year, personally and globally. The latter point I'll leave where it lays; I don't feel such things have a place in this sort of blog anyways, and I'm used to not having a public opinion on political/world matters, so it'd be a little weird to start now. Suffice to say the year left a poor taste, and I'm glad to see it over, even if we'll be dealing with the various aftermath for a long time to come.

But in regards to the former, and not so much as an apology as an explanation... last year was busy. Worked a total of three jobs (two at any given time), finished a seven month welding course - and my personal highlight of the year, spent two full months learning to lead men into combat. No, really. Hardest, most rewarding hurdle I've come across in life, I can say that for sure. On top of that, I proposed to my now-fiancee, and we're planning to get married in the next couple months (legally, anyways - we both want a proper wedding down the road, but that's not in the finances right now). In all, a very busy year. I don't regret the achievements one tiny bit... but hell, it all wears a guy down, ya know?

At any rate, looking at all that, pretty much nine months (allowing for downtime between school and army) of the year eaten up by schooling (with low income, attempting to make up with part-time jobs) and high stress military time (though finances, at least, weren't an issue there), all ended up with 2016 being incredibly poor for Frozen Skies progress. I wouldn't change a thing that happened, but that's how we got here. Once again, I can't really promise a whole hell of a lot in terms of progress even for this year, but its certainly something I think about, even if it doesn't get as much of my free time as it probably warrants. The latest chapter has us in pretty high spirits, despite how small in wordcount it ended up being, the reception seems quite positive, and for all the right reasons.

I'm starting to get long winded, so that's probably a good time to wrap things up for anyone who continued reading this far. In short, thank you all for bearing with us through last year, and here's to this one hopefully being better than the last!
