I've been talking about a grand WRTMI rewrite for awhile. Well, over the last month, where I've been working out of town, I've been able to get a good bit of writing in and get the basis of the story established. This new reimagining will take place several months, maybe a year or more, prior to WRTMI Chapter 1, The Mother She Deserves. I'll be establishing canon with Season 5. That means the Elements of Harmony are out, Rainbow Power is in, unless the Season 5 finale does something even dumber than Super Saiyan Mane Six. S5 should be aired before Act 1 is complete, which'll give me time to adjust accordingly.
The revised story starting far earlier allows me to flesh out Act 1, because it will be intended to stand fully on its own. RD and Scootaloo's sistership will be properly established (because Lord knows we can't trust the show writers to do it justice) before the adoption, my Wonderbolt canon will be much easier to digest without the methods I employed to be all coy with THE TRUTH BEHIND THEIR MILITARY AND THE PARENT ORGANIZATION and all that crap. It'll tell its own story while setting up the events of Act 2.
This way, Act 2 can play out organically without the heavy exposition dump I had to do for basically every chapter. The readers will know a good deal about Gymkhana, Grape Blossom, and her friends before RD ever gets there, allowing room for the focus to be placed less on establishing the Saddle Arabia setting and more about the job, their struggles, their enemy, and the conflict against The Shadow. All of this should set up the troubles RD will face in that mysterious Act 3.
What's Really the Most Important, as it currently stands right now on my FIMFic, will be getting one final update before I cancel it to be replaced by what I'm already believing is the far better version of the story. We'll be joining Spitfire as she catches up to Imago, Regent Lord of the Swarm, for one final confrontation before everything Act 2 was building up to goes down. Why now a regent lord instead of a general? Because General Imago is a dumb title, and Regent Lord fits one acting in place of royalty and the last chapter was updated to reflect this. Anyway, this'll be a final sendoff to readers who stayed loyal this long, and while it won't answer the 'WTF IS GONNA HAPPEN WE'VE BEEN WAITING LIKE TWO YEARS I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHERE ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE' question, hopefully something fun and exciting will serve for now. Plus, you'll get to hear some of my changeling headcanon! Don't everybody cheer at once, now.
Well, that's gonna be it for now, then. I'll let you know when the final chapter is coming up and then I'll be going quiet on the site until the rewritten Act 1 is finished (or I write a small one-shot, or something). I'll post an update schedule and start the same for Act 2. When I return THEN with Act 2, you'll know I finished it and the Act 3 HYPETRAINSTARTSCHOOCHOO.
