Is there any kind of timeline up for the stories of Crystal and Silent compared to the main story/seasons of MLP? I'm completely lost on whether Discord already happened, or if Cadence and Shining defeated Sombra or what might be coming up.
Officially, no. Crystal and I do have an incredibly detailed one that we work from. It is filled with spoilers though. As far as matching Q&B to the main story line it works like this:
Season 1 and Season 2 happen fairly similarly. In Memoirs Silent Knight experiences Discord's time but thinks it is a hallucination brought on by an accident at Runics. The changeling invasion happened and, ultimately, Cadence and Shining Armor went to the Crystal Empire. In recent chapters of Secrets we learned that King Sombra is missing. When the Crystal Empire reappeared he was no where to be found.
Pretty much after Season 2 the Q&B timeline diverges completely from MLP:FiM. Even more so for the newer seasons since they didn't exist when we started writing.

SK: Camping? I've certainly been camping a few times. My father was determined Winterspear and I would be prepared to rough it at a moments notice. I suppose there was the one time mom went with us. To be honest, I didn't expect her to be any good at it but mom surprised us all. She knew how to assemble a tent, build a fire, and everything like that.

I am a telecommunications engineer. That is just a fancy way of saying I build out voice and data networks for clients.
That's cool. I've been interested in learning how mechanical and robotic engineering works. But what you do sounds kinda cool. Is it a little like programming?

3337027 A lot of it is, yes. I configure a lot of technical equipment. Most of it runs in Linux and can be scripted to set it up much like programming. Mechanical and/or robotic engineering are both really cool.

As far as engineering goes, I have a story idea which features a mechanical/robotic engineer and his workplace, depending on which specialty fits his job. It would be kinda hard to write about a pony like that if I didn't know a little bit about their jobs

3337354 Is it fun? That is a tough question :D The fundamentals of my job are fun I guess. I've always enjoyed them. Programming gear etc. On the whole the job can be a bit stressful :D

That's good! If someone was going to have a job, they should at least enjoy. Which is why I'll work at Dunkin Donuts once I reach official hiring age ^-^ Of course, stress will still get to you even if you do like your job, that's for sure.
