I said I'd do it, here it is, A Mother's Warmth blog! · 2:34pm Aug 9th, 2015
I said last blog that I'd write this. And so I have!
Now what do I want to say about this story... well how about: Almost everyone who read it, enjoyed it. Not saying that to gloat, I'm saying that because the story took off almost as fast as Nyx and the Sunset, slightly slower, but still amazingly fast for me, I was surprised it didn't make the featured box with the amount of views it was getting at the time . I had been working on that story for three weeks the third week was waiting for cover art to finish and editing which was handled by Fourpony.
Now shocker, the story was released unedited, yet whatever editing it did need was minor compared to some of my other stories. This story is the first of many stories I'll be releasing where I did all the editing, I'm still learning a lot about what things to add into writing, like periods, commas and stops, etc.
So now here's some story background. I got the idea to do a simple day in the life, slice of life story with Nyx. One that didn't involve helping a ghost (Tears in the Snow), dealing with her role as a queen (Conflict) or living an entirely different life with Sunset Shimmer (we know that story ). Just a story that showed what one day in her life would be like without all the strangeness that would occur. I also wrote the story to be sweet, cute and relate-able, all of us as kids at some point got up at night to cuddle with our parents when it got cold, or we had a bad dream. Funny... now that I think about it; a bad dream would have made for a better story, not some cold weather. But people liked it for what it was, and that is enough for me.
The cover art was done by TealessTea, my dearest, darling girlfriend and a talented artist, took a while for her to do it but the wait was worth it. The art was way different then what I had in mind, but I don't care. She made the art and I love it.
The story isn't really set in any Past Sins spin-off or main timeline, it's pretty much a stand-alone, although if I had to set it somewhere in Pen Strokes universe it would be after The Road Home, a story Pen Stroke has been working on and currently still is. The story is also set one month after Tanks for the Memories, a season 5 episode of main series My Little Pony. Now I don't claim the story has any standing in Pen Stroke's timeline, I don't want to force anything into his timeline, I'm merely a branch writer of a branched series of stories involving his character.
Okay, one more thing, at the end of this blog, you might notice a previous and a next Blog option. That's in case people want to see my previous blogs. Blogs are usually read once but then are forgotten, so I opted to put links at the bottom of the page in case people were just interested in what I had to say in the past. This feature is only recent and doesn't extend back to my first blog without needed editing.
Anyway, I'm so thrilled people enjoyed one of my more simple stories of innocence and motherhood. Have a good one chaotics.
