A Pony Displaced: World at War - Update 2 {Spoiler Alert: It's a bad one} · 12:40pm Aug 9th, 2015
Been awhile since I updated {I still don't think people read these but I need somewhere to rant and get my thoughts out into the open} anything regarding the next APD, mostly due to the issues I've had with it.
I don't want to write it anymore.
From pretty early on I've had issues writing it for whatever reason; around Chapter 4 or so we shifted the focus of the story to try and fix the problem and it worked....for 11 more chapters. Now however when I think about sitting down to write it I simply lose my drive to write altogether.
So, there is a possibility that the sequel to APD will go on cryo {hold} indefinitely, I'm not entirely sure yet. Honestly depends on the response to this I suppose.
So, the question: Should I upload what I have written so far and then put the story on hold or not release anything at all before putting it on hold? And what of the plot notes? The entire plot is actually already planned and written out in short-form. What would you {assuming people read this} prefer?
I'd be interested in reading what's already done. Having a story on hold is never a bad thing as long as it eventual gets finished.
Same for plot notes.
You'd probably be better off not releasing it. The ending of APD works as an aactual ending, without requiring a sequel, so it can stand alone. Releasing the progress so far would be like, "Here guys! Whole new plot line for you to read, but you won't ever see the ending! LOL!" In my opinion, cancelled sstories are the worst, because it's like a cliffhanger that doesn't even leave you in suspense, but rather, disappointment.

Hmm...perhaps release the currently written segments gdocs links as read-at-your-own-risk?

Well to be fair, having a gdocs link won't really be any better then just uploading it to Fimfic. If your gonna release the story, you might as well do it here on Fimfic so you can get a larger nber of readers and gauge the interest from the readers to see if it's worth continuing.
Worst case scenario, you cancel it and/or you pass it off to another author to continue or best case you find your drive to write again.
3306647 Hm, very true...I think part of the reason I want to upload it in some form is because if the time and effort my editors/co-writer's put into it. There've been times where they've wrote over half a chapter for me and it feels like I'm spitting on their efforts if I don't upload it but at the same time I know how frustrating it is to see an incomplete story go on hiatus/cancelled. Ah well, suppose it'll work itself out one way or another. Thank you for your thoughts mate. :3
I'll have words on this later
3306665 ...I love you. Please don't eat my soul.
In my opinion, I want to see this, however, I am satisfied with the way the first one ended. That being said, you do owe your co-writers/editors, some sort of recognition, for their hard work, and dedication, how you do that is completely up to you, but if your anything like me, when it comes to writing, this story will be at the back of your mind for a very long time, and it will demand some attention.
Like I said, I'm fine with how the first one ended the second one is only an added bonus.

no problem. I hope that when you make a decision, it's a decision that you want to do. Don't feel to pressured into something that doesn't make you happy.
