Attending Bronycon 2015 · 2:57am Aug 5th, 2015
Pascoite's blog reminded me that it would be smart to mention that I'm going to be at Bronycon again this year, and on two panels.
He, I, Professor Plum, Themaskedferret, and Pav Feira (as host) will be doing, from 5:30–6:30pm on Friday, a panel about getting into the pre-reading/reviewing/editing community.
Editors, Pre-Readers, Reviewers: Pillars of Support
No author is an island! From editors, pre-readers, and reviewers, the fanfiction community offers lots of support to its fellow members. Our panel will discuss the benefits that these roles provide for authors and readers, and how you can get involved when you're just starting out.
And then on Saturday from 3:00–4:00pm, the next iteration of the yearly Dos and Don'ts panel will be happening with me, Plum, Pen Stroke, Golden Vision, I think Alexstrazsa, and Sunchaser (as host).
The Do's and Don'ts of Fanfiction
This panel explores the all-important question: what makes a good story? Get straight talk from pony fiction veterans about how tropes can work for you, how to polish a story for release, what to look for when editing, and even how to avoid the temptations of the alicorn OC.

Also, to give my writing a mention: I've been working on something I'll be putting out in 3–4 weeks. It won't be new to everyone, and it may not appeal to those who it's new to anyway, but some folks will appreciate it. It'll be back to work on Wider World after that—I've got a chapter sitting at about a third of the way completed.

Fangwarden's coming with cameras, and he might be recording them. Bronycon itself probably will, too, but they messed it up last year, so who knows? Here's hoping there's at least one good recording of each, and at least the rest of the writing track stuff.

My point is that there's the editing "community" so much as it exists, and then there's the simple fact that far more editing is just people giving each other hands.

Because the implication of your posts was that you were grandstanding in a place you had absolutely no cause to do so in, got your editing skills called out due to failing to proofread your post, deleted the evidence of your failure, and are now backpedaling harder than Lance Armstrong from an oncoming train. Yeah, but not everyone has someone to reach out to for decent editing. One of our goals with the panel is to get more folks into the community(/ies), which are places that people who don't have individuals to go to can use. There's far more people who need/want help with their writing than there are people able/available to provide it, and—being realistic—we won't even put a dent in that, but it's better than doing nothing, and we can subsequently look into doing more.

I've had reservations since February 2nd. Now all I have to do escape Kafkaesque work and (minor) medical scares, and we should be there. BlueBook and I hope to be in for the Advanced Writing panel on Friday if we are on the road early enough and traffic doesn't turn against us.

Yes, I have done and continue to do a editing work for a wide number of people and stories. My point was that... fuck it, better point: drunk logic is not logic. I'll try to attend the pannel, seeing as I'm still up for helping write rs...
