It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

Amending Fences - spoilers, naturally · 4:25pm Jul 4th, 2015

Good ep. I was worried it wouldl turn out to be trite and cliché, but it was actually pretty heartwarming and fun, with some cute charachterisation for the friends Twilight left behind. We got more clues about the layout of Canterlot, the position of Twilight's old tower relative to the city and so on. And we got to see Moondancer!

Ain't she a cutie?

The explanation of background ponies being everywhere was a nice touch too, with Lyra getting a mention of her full name and all the other girls just being adorable. Pinkie of course knows them, because Pinkie... judging from the occupations wew got to hear about these three girls move in some pretty high social circles compared to the average pony. It'd explain why they were princess-level bridesmaids and invited to Twilight's coronation and what have you.

None of it felt tacked on or rushed. Even the big turn-around where Moondancer is indoctrinated into the herd learns the value of friendship was just the right side of schmaltzy. She obviously valued her friendship with Twilight a lot, to the point of emulating her appearance (I'd have been worried about if she'd carried that on into adulthood). Not having her best friend turn up must have been gut-wrenching.

I liked that a great deal of the emotion and feeling was given to us through the actions of the characters. This show hs always had pretty good animation but this episode in particular really went to town on the visual side of things. Most of the story could have been told without a single line of dialogue.

Sop yeah. Fun, cute, touching. I'd rank this right at the top of this season's output so far.

Speaking of indoctrination...

DAMN YOU LARSON!

Final thought: those eyebrows man... they seem to be a thing this season. I kind of like it.

I'm curious as to whether or not Starlight being there was actually part of the script or if it was just the animators putting in a miscellaneous pony. Either way, fun ep.

I now want to see Moondancer and Tree Hugger have an Eyebrow-Off. Though getting the latter to compete will probably be a chore in and of itself...

3205877 And Moondancer probably wouldn't tolerate the woo Tree Hugger brings wherever she goes. "Chakras aren't real! Ponies don't have auras, not the kind you're imagining!"

oh, that cameo @_@

Those eyebrows...

*has war flashbacks to Make Friends But Keep Discord*

Didn't we only hear one pony's job? Twilight said Lemon worked at the Palace planning the big events, but what else?

Also, apparently Moondancer lived by herself in an abandoned school, and her sister didn't do anything about it? What the fuck?
