So it turns out that my laptop died...
Yeah...
The power cord for it frayed and broke, and any attempt on my own behalf to fix it ended up with the battery frying. At least, maybe. When I can get a new cord, I'll see if it will run off the wall power. I hope it works, I have a lot of data related to some of my stories on there.
In the meantime, Aus and I will attempt to write up the last few chapters of our latest story before I save them to the end of it and release them slowly, because I'm evil like that. It's not easy going with voice to text on this tablet, but he's falling into the role of main editor really well.
This does mean however, that writing other stories is going to be near impossible. At least, with any sort of speed. But I may or may not have a surprise looming on the horizon.
That all depends on your definition of the word 'surprise'...

That's my definition.
So long as you don't format the hard drive you should be fine, here's to your computer being ok! /)
If the Hard Drive is good you can pull it out and pop it into a external bay and then be able to access your data. That's if you can't get the machine to power on when you get a new cord. It is rare but not impossible that when you fry a battery it can damage the connector that draws power from the battery to the laptop, also rare is that when the power supply blew after the attempted fix it could have shorted the power supply impute. I really hope that neither of those happened but if it did you can still get your information off the hard drive.
Like others have been saying, if the Hard Drive (The thing that actually stores all your computer's data) is still intact and hasn't been formatted (erased), then even if the battery/power of your laptop is fried you can still get your stuff off of it.
