I am really, really looking forward to this game.
I mean, really.
The Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts teaser at E3 2006 was, in my opinion, one of the most misleading trailers of all time.
You watch that? You see anything about car building in that trailer? JonTron said it best: It seemed that Rare was intent on making the much-anticipated Banjo-Threeie, but then Microsoft, in true form to publishers and money-loving executives, believed their new idea was genius: "Let's make it about cars."
So last month, Yooka-Laylee was announced on Kickstarter, with the initial goal of £175,000.
You know how much they got? Over £2,000,000.
That says to me "Yeah, Nuts and Bolts sucked ass, and we know you don't have the rights to the franchise, so give us a spiritual Banjo-Threeie that we've wanted for 15 years."
I also wish there was a way to track what games are played the most in the upcoming "Rare Replay" for Xbox One. It has some gems, like Blast Corps, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Perfect Dark, and Jet Force Gemini. Obviously it's missing the likes of Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye (honestly, that game hasn't aged well). I think it would be quite telling if anything past 2002 wasn't really played at all.
"Yeah, here's a 30-year collection of video games from a developer, including towards the end when we purchased them and turned them to shit."
I backed this on Kickstarter and got a perk that included a physical copy of the game. I'm just as excited as you, dude.
I'm gonna play the hell out of Rare Replay. And once backwards compatability comes, the One will be a great console for once.
Blast Corps, think that was one of my first true ragequits. One of the last stages is so annoying that after multiple attempts I slammed the controller and gave up.
Years later I try again from the start.... Still can't beat that stage.
I really hope Rare still got it in them and this is the game we have been hoping for.
