Marriage Headcanons · 6:43pm Jun 26th, 2015
Since marriage is on the mind of many Americans today because of some certain exciting laws, I figured I might as well share some of the marriage headcanons for my characters that I've kept in my head.
CaraMac is probably the easiest to answer, simply because Caramel and Mac are both pretty personal to me. In my mind I either saw them getting married in just over a year, and if not then then waiting a really long time. I just see the two as moving very fast into the stages of the relationship and basically living together after just a few months since they always spend the night at each other's house. Mac would either want to make it official early or just sort of forget about marriage because the two are already basically married.
Mac's the type of guy to not really know how to be romantic if he tries, so he follows a lot of cliches. I can see his proposing being along the lines of having a normal day with Caramel where almost nothing seems out of the ordinary, working on the farm and Mac making them dinner and maybe buying him flowers but not saying why. Mac would tell Caramel that he can't promise life would be any different once they're married, but it'd be like that day almost every day. Normal and slow, but together. Caramel's the kind of guy who is super sappy so he'd probably start crying before he could even answer and Mac would panic and think he did something wrong.
In my mind Mac would take the hardest approach of finding someplace for the two of them to live and just end up building a house on the farm within ten minute walking distance to the rest of his family. It'd probably take a while and some of the apple family would come over occasionally to help, but it'd just be a nice little home for him and Caramel. For him it's a sign of how committed he is to Caramel and how hard he's willing to work to go through with it. Of Course Caramel is more than happy to take on Mac's name and have the kind of large happy family he never knew.

Blueblood and Fancy on the other hand... well... they're a different case. I can see Fancy being hesitant about marrying Blueblood because in my mind, he's been married before. He had a wife when he was very young because it was his first serious relationship and it turned sour quickly, and several complications arose that forced them apart. Fancy really hasn't had a relationship be so serious before or since until Blueblood came along, so he'd take a while to decide just how much he loves him.
Blueblood on the other hand would probably be scared of marriage for different reasons, namely being one of the first ponies in quite a while to have two princes who are married. Blueblood still has bitter feelings towards his bloodline and has guilt about not being able to continue it the proper way as his father always told him too. While Shining was the pony who made Blueblood feel like he was allowed to break out of his Father's chains, Fancy was the pony who made Blueblood feel like he could move on and forget his feelings. I don't see him being able to propose to Fancy, just like he was unwilling to admit he loved him until they came out to the public despite feeling it long before.
I can see Fancy Pants being really suave about it and putting a spin onto Blueblood's first gift of the key to his room. He'd make Blueblood a new suit, one that was black and formal and neat. They would probably go on some trip disguised as Fancy showing off his clothing designs in a fashion show across Equestria, and make several grand stops together along the way. Fancy has a way of playing with ponies and making almost anypony find him romantic while he keeps his cool, but Blueblood probably still manages to make him nervous when he admits his true feelings like love over lust. He would slip the wedding band into the pocket of Blueblood's new suit and ask him to wear it to the show only to bring him to an empty stage he rented out and ask him to look in his pocket. The band would have a ruby instead of a diamond to remind Blueblood of how he's Fancy's rose.
Obviously Fancy would be very willing to live in the castle with Blueblood, and Shining and Cadence would probably insist to plan the wedding because they know Blueblood just as well if not better than Fancy.

Anyway yeah, just wanted all that off my chest because yay marriage!
.... Yeah, I can see that.
And to be honest, if you were to write a story on either of those couples, I'd be interested to read them.
3185426 I was considering writing a sequel to Blossoming Roses, honestly... but right now I'm sort of working on a really long non pony project...
I like your headcanons!
Soarin and Braeburn tho ;-;
