    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

That picture I said I was working on. · 12:49pm Jun 18th, 2015

Here it is. This is Mhi'par Ka'ra, the changeling OC better known as Meep who's one of the main characters of my story The Bridesmaids as she is in my AU during the date Across the Sea of Time takes place.

I assume there will be questions from Bridesmaids fans. I will answer them in character.

Q: Why do you look like a Queen? Wern't you a worker?
A: I was yeah. Lyra, Cole, and I went out to my old hive after the Equestrian-Arc war. Long story short, last living Amber, magic crystal, zap poof Queen. Or to use a bee analogy, I ate royal jelly by accident while seeing if any of my Hive were still alive.

Q: Where are your wings? And Fangs? Also are you blue?
A: I edited my base form using a psi trick because I was scaring foals in town. This way I look like a shiny super dark cobalt blue unicorn. My fangs are still there, they just retract now. As for my wings... Guys seriously... The shiny bit of our backs open to store our wings. Ever see a beetle?

Q: What about the hair?
A: I have no freaking clue! It's not dye, it's not a hex, it's not a joke spell... At least Cole likes it.

Q: Is that your house? Why is it so run down?
A: Yep! It's a bit of a mess sure, but Cole and I are fixing it up slowly. We got this great place on the edge of town, real cool, nice yard, but in need of repairs.

Q: Since you're a Queen now can you do that hypnosis thing Chrysalis did?
A: Nope. That's something which made her special, it's not a Queen ability. Basically a 'ling Queen is just tall, equal to a pony in ability instead of one third of a pony, and can spawn drones if she wants to. Which I don't, because I know what that entails, and frankly, ew...

Q: So nothing special? Seems like a rip off.
A: Not quite true... I recovered the last Amber Queen's library. Had some useful things in it. Like how to convert other species into changelings. So Cole can shift now too! That's a plus.

Since I know people will ask, the background isn't mine, I found it on a stock image site, but I did all the work on the character myself. It fit the scene I had sketched out perfectly (I wanted to draw the OC that Is my self insert character in something close to my RL apartment), and was a similar art style so I decided "screw it", and shaded Meep to match the picture as best I could. As for Meep herself I used a pony base for the general pose, I'm not great at non vector art, but I modded it to fit her character design and did her details (shell, mane, tail, eye) from scratch.

I am proud to say I colored her myself from scratch though! Huzzah! I am markedly improving in my ability to draw things!

Righty then, urge to draw thus squashed, I'm going to go write now.

3159804 Thanks! Im hoping to work out how to compleatly eliminate the need for any line work int he finished product.

3159836 Mabey. but I might need a tablet for that. this was 100% mouse work.

3159845 better than I could do with days of focus.:twilightsheepish:

I do not understand why almost every changeling OC sometime in their lives as their story progresses become Queens. Why not Kings? In any case why must they become royals for their story to progress? Sorry it's just a personal gripe I've obviously not read that far, but it upsets me that almost everyone sees it as an only way forward for their characters to progress. It's a common trope that the characters go "Super Sayan" as in reach new heights each time until there's no more.

I don't know anymore... Maybe we should move this to a pm... I really shouldn't be complaining so much about this character.

3160167 Why not King? Because she female, and I'm referencing the biological caste of social hive dwelling insects, not the monarch title. (Also in my version of Changelish there are no gender based words... so males would be called Queen too.) As for becoming a Queen, it's realy not that big of a deal in my AU. Sure some people might make queens super powered, but I have changelings balanced by having them have 1/3rd the flight ability of the average Pegasus, 1/3rd the magic power of an average unicorn, and 1/3rd the physcal powers of an Earth pony. Queens are equil to average ponies.

Yes this gives them all the powers, but nowhere near alicorns levels. A changeling queen (or king if male or prefers that title.) can fly as well as the average Pegasus, not say, like Dash. They can cast spells as well as the average unicorn, not say, Twilight. They are strong, and have good endurance, but only so much as the average Earth pony, not say, Big Mac.

Also keep in mind a physical upgrade dose not fix the fat that Meep can't plan for shit!

Lastly, why become a queen? Because she was the last living member of her hive in the AU's canon, or at least the last one who checked in on the hive after a very large war occurred. Could have been anyling who did, but it wasn't. She did. She found the crystalized love embdued with royal essence and because it smelled tasty licked it, and began the second pupation that any changeling can. Luck of the draw.

Oooh....
pretty

Quick question, if Meep LOOKS like an Amber, and always has, why didn't Adik'a (I think I spelled that right) recognize that she was an Amber and tell her about the one at the Emerald's hive? Just seems like bit of a plot hole. (not that kind, get your heads out of the gutters!)

3160502 Meep IS an Amber. See the Bridesmaids. (Ignore most of what she says about her species, memory degradation has already set in with her like it did her dad. Though as a queen she docent have to use that trick anymore so she wont wind up killing herself.) It is a bit of a plot hole, but it could be explained as combat stress on everyone's part. (Plus the author dropping the ball despite having already worked out Meep's dad living with the Emeralds... Mostly I guess because it's not Meep's story.) Or Addy remembered the Amber traditional thing where they send the about to die off to die in the wilderness (religious cultrual thing) and well didnt mention it because that could be seen as rude? IDK. That's a hole there...

3160532
See I would think about it being a case where Adik'a mentioned it, but never told Kenir about it because she didn't know his name when she talked to Meep, so Meep had no clue that was her dad Adik'a was talking about.

3160556 I could go edit that into the story real quick.

3160561
You probably should. Although, if you ever cover Meep discovering what happened to her dad, there would have to be some angst on her part realizing that she COULD have gone to at least provide moral support during the formerly unknown changeling's last days (if memory degradation was a thing, she likely wouldn't remember her hive's thing about going off into the wilderness to die), but didn't just because she didn't feel like leaving Ponyville, and now she won't get to tell her dad about anything that has happened with her.

... Wow, that's morbid. Here's a cute picture.
cuteoverload.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/both-kitties-couch.jpg?w=560&h=391

3160585 Did you read Bridesmaids? In it she states her dad is dead. Meaning she could have forgotten the tradition already and assumed dead as in, expired not dead as in "excomunicated to die solitude".

3160593
Which means angst when she realizes that her dad wasn't dead when she had the other living member of her hive mentioned, but now that she remembers that possibility, he's already gone into the afterlife.
